Yet another month! Get your goals set!
Here's mine:

Random models that strike my fancy.

mottdon, three models, really? that'll keep you busy till Wednesday at the most!
my goal this month is twenty Reiksguard. plain and simple and quite possibly mind-numbing.

Well, there's also the 35 models I'll be painting for GMW, so....giving plenty of time for those. And it's my kids birthday this weekend so I won't be getting any painting done...probably.

Back from holiday, so back to work for me. I've got a lot still to build, which I generally prioritise, but there's a couple of bits of painting I really want to get done, so these will be my targets:
1) Finish that Dark Elf Dreadlord on foot that I didn't complete last month. 2) Paint my unit of 10 Irondrakes; the first models for my dwarf army, and hopefully the easiest to do as they're just three different metals.

Lol! Well, first off, I'm glad you're back from holiday! 1) I love it the way he is! Looks finished to me! LOVE the dark/grim! 2) I'd probably say that the Irondrakes were some of the hardest Dwarf units I've had to paint. It's mostly because of those stinkin' shoulder guards! They're really bulky and make it hard to get places like the head. There's also a lot of detail in those models that you miss at first glance. I probably went a little over the top with mine though. At any rate, good luck! That's an awesome unit and will be a great addition to your army!

I'm afraid my Dark Elves get the traditional skin tone, rather than the drow look, so his face still needs doing. They were my first WFB army, and my paint scheme is very much "by the book" with them.
That's concerning about the Irondrakes - I was really hoping I'd be able to rattle through all the 8th edition dwarf plastics really quickly, particularly them. I might have to switch allegiance and paint 20 Night Goblins instead - I'm keen to make a start on one of those armies.

Night Goblins WOULD be much faster, but.....DWARVES! They're just so dang fun!

grandmasterwang that looks incredible. Really like that idea. sedge not sure I entirely agree with mottdon on the Irondrakes. I actually thought the Irondrakes/Iron breakers were the quickest and possibly easiest of all the dwarf models. Though I will caveate that it was me painting and my standard isn’t at the same level (and I’m using a simple scheme for them). I do think the detail on them isn’t as high as other models. That isn’t a critisism as I like the models it just meant I found painting them far less daunting than others. This month I’ll pledge: 10 Ironbreakers (well 9 and an Irondrake champion with duel pistols) Wargor bsb Woodelf bsb Continue working on my second waystalker, waywatchers and test Bret knight of the realm.

I've got the Irondrakes sprayed with Leadbelcher already (which came on a bit thick; it's erased those tiny little grooves in the armour - not that I was expecting to paint that level of detail). My plan is to wash them all over with Nuln Oil, heavyish drybrush all over with Stormhost Silver. Then base the copper bits with Screaming Bell, and the gold with Retributor armour, wash both with Reikland Fleshshade, and then do a light drybrush of Stormhost Silver over them. That's 6 stages, which would be the quickest and easier paint scheme I've ever used.

Thanks a lot mate! Appreciate it, especially coming from a fellow Beastlord. It would appear as though this month we are looking at an Iron Drake off! Gentlemen start your engines. I really like the lore behind the Irondrakes as I used to wonder how Ironbreakers alone could deal with the warpfire throwers and other assorted skaven nasties so they filled a percieved dwarf lore hole for me. I also think the miniatures look pretty cool.

Can't wait to see your bsb and what you do with the kdaii destroyer.
