Good news! www.warhammer-community.com/2018/08/06/forge-world-better-service-faster-shipping/4 main bits: - You can pay in local currencies, not just £s
- More payment options (various US/continental European things I haven't heard of )
- Warehouse in America - for quicker shipping there
- Faster shipping for everyone due to improved processes
This is bigger for US people; us Brits had things pretty decent already. It's a pity their shipping costs are still crazy, and they won't let you order to GW store pick-up for free, but these are all improvements. This is actually terrible news for anyone outside the UK as we're now paying an additional 20-40% for that same product. They're trying to spin it in a positive manner but basically...sales are hurting because of the weak Pound (thanks Brexit?) so they're trying to squeeze more money from their international customers. Here's an example: I'm wanting to start up Warhammer 30k again. (Bad Timing) I'm wanting to play Space Wolves as they'll complement my Talons of the Emperor (Adeptus Custodes and Sisters of Silence, I'm thinking of it as the Emperors Executioners). The Primarch of the Space Wolves legion is Leman Russ. He comes bundled with his two Wolf companions. The UK pays: 140 GBP. That equates to 179.65 USD on 8/23/2018 at 8a AK time. But for some reason FW thinks that it's OK to charge me $215 USD for that EXACT same model. IT'S RIDICULOUS! I'm sorry FW that income is hurting because your people/government made some choices that are affecting your currency, but this is NOT the way to try and get that money back. And I GUARANTEE you that if the shoe were on the other foot and the GBP was even stronger (say, a 2.00 USD conversion rate instead of the current 1.28 that it is now) they would NOT be lowering their prices internationally. Pure.Unadulterated.Bullshit.

From now on when I want to order from FW I'll just use someone from the UK that's in this forum and have them ship the items to me once they've received them. I'll even pay a commission as it will still work out cheaper than what I pay to order direct now from their website.
Any takers?

www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-GB/Dread-SaurianDread Saurian is no longer available - they did that without any fanfare. I'd always wanted one since seeing it at the only Games Day I went to (something like 2012 or 2013) when Trish was showing it off. It was crazily expensive (£150) but would have been a great centrepiece to the Lizardmen army I'll one day have. That makes me nervous that they may scrap more of the few remaining WFB FW kits without putting them on "Last Chance to Buy". There's several I still want to pick up, but don't think I'll be in a position to do so any time soon.

eek! same here. The dreadquake mortar keeps whispering in my ear but it takes a long time to save up enough lunch money for that beast.

Guess I'd better get on and buy the 3 Manaan's Blades and 2 Nuln Ironsides sets I need.

It looks like the Specialist Games team (which is part of FW) will be doing a weekly blog on Warhammer Community - this is the first: www.warhammer-community.com/2018/09/11/11th-sept-what-makes-it-specialgw-homepage-post-1/For those of us with a desperate hope the Specialist Games team may revive WFB one day - it'd have both "Unique Setting" and "Unique Rules" - but at present not "Unique Models"... though as AoS continues with its flying sharks and so on, that may come to be the case. Not that ticking all three boxes would mean the game is going to come back, just that it'd be something they could then consider - at the moment, I'd imagine that while AoS uses the WFB range of models the GW main team would block the Specialist Games team from developing a game that used those same models.

I would expect a more popular item like the Dreadquake Mortar for the Chaos Dwarfs to not just disappear and give potential buyers a last chance.

Totally. 8th edition will never be a Specialist Game for them. It's simply too big. Plus, GW would be afraid that by bringing 8th edition back, they'd be "admitting fault" in getting rid of it and harm future sales of AoS, which they are obviously trying to push mainstream. They can't have a direct competitor to AoS's success, within their own company! Sadly, I don't think GW will ever revive 8th edition. There are simply too many of us 8th loyalists out here to completely ignore, so that's why we have the made to order segments (and to keep 9th age players from creating too many models that will compete with them). Personally, I don't think that GW ever imagined that killing the Old World would spawn nearly as many competitors as it did. But with readily available software programs out there, access to molding manufacturers, as well as funding and marketing through sites like Kickstarter, it's a machine that's nearly impossible to stop. All the players need was a reason to start. GW certainly managed to gain the IP right to their ridiculous faction names, but really, that's a very small hurdle. Everyone knows what an Elf, Dwarf, and Orc are. Unless they actually get creative and imagine a fantasy race that hasn't ever been conceived before, then other's will always be able to make alternative models. I'm good with that.

I’m not entirely sure their reasoning for specialist games is logical. 30k stuff pretty much all translates in 40k. Not all of them are exactly unique either

After the rough first year of AOS, I was convinced WFB was coming back.
I'm now pretty sure we won't be seeing it any time soon.
The chance it could ever be a specialist game seems incredibly slim. I don't think WFB models were ever making huge profits for FW. Can't see them wanting to bring it back as a niche specialist game after that experience. It would also be very weird to have separate fantasy models on square bases while AOS exists.
Maybe AOS will run it's course and slow way down in the future. I could see GW letting it die and then completely rebooting WFB. Like not bringing back any of the old models and starting from scratch. Idk...

Apparently the rider is Ogre sized. At that price the rider should be Smaug sized. Still, glad it's finally out. I'm sure some rich Khorne fanatic will love it.
Per the lore the more kills the rider gets the bigger his skull chair on the back of the dragon gets which is kind of cool.
Seeing that miniature at that price makes me feel better about basically every Warhammer purchase ever!

I wish I earn enough to justify spending that much on a single mini. Scratch that, I wish I wasn’t paying London prices so the majority of my salary didn’t go on rent/bills/childcare so I could justify spanking that much on a single mini!
