Not sure this warrant's it's own thread but the tweet and the brief article it links to are a good read. And really worth a read.
What we love is what we had when we were young. True of sports, gaming, music, movies. . . we miss being young with a world of bright new horizons in front of us far more then we miss the actual things we think we miss from our youth.
Similarly read another article about the investment people have in 'being right' about their hobby choices. X is clearly great (because I love it) and Y must be terrible because it's different then X. Anything that argues against that must be wrong - because I know I'm "right" in loving what I love. (Kind of reminds me of the guy whose girlfriend is clearly not a great as he thinks she is. . . but he's head over heels and doesn't want to hear different from his friends. )

Spot on. I realized what I loved and miss most about the "good old days" of the hobby wasn't the actual hobby stuff back theb, it was the weekends in high school of myself and all my friends getting together, throwing everything we owned down and playing a massive, silly game where we made up scenarios, special rules, and objectives in the fly(in the middle of the game, to boot) then being excited to do it again the next week or so.
There's no way to do that now without months of planning thanks to adult life and I know the older models are I want most(Red Period ftw) have to do with being from that era of playing in my life.

Couldn't agree more! I'm trying to get more regular games in with my local group, aiming for once a week!

Yeah but Ii’ve only played 40k one time like 7 or 8 years ago (about when I was 20 or 21) and started fantasy 2 years ago. And I’ve lost favor with video games a good bit. Only play online with my one friend every so often. Music wise there is some truth as I’ve been an avid Metalhead since I was 12 or 13.

I think it's wrong to think that everything from past it's considered better just because of nostalgia, maybe they were better because they were better themselves, I.e Warhammer and eew of Sigmar.

Yeah, I wouldn't click on it. Links like that are usually bad news. Especially since it's coming from an unknown user.
