Gyros complete! I didn't enjoy painting their fins/rotors, which look a bit smudged, but otherwise I'm content with them. I'll put some more angles of them in my Dwarf thread.

Now I've found my paints hidden in a box mislabelled, I've been able to finally get 'back in the saddle'. This is in the form of Grimm Burloksson.

It's a good month to be an Upstart Master Engineer, as I've got my Grimm Burlocksson completed too, as well as Belegar: More photos in my Dwarf army log.

okay, I held back on the first Burlokson. but, now Burloksons are getting out of hand and so I will just say it: what the heck is this thing on his back? Is that supposed to be functional with the little chimnney and piping? or ornamental? why would he lug that thing around and not stick with an axe and chain mail and maybe, maybe a crossbow, like a PROPER DWARF? (his saving grace is the pipe, not all is bad)

That's called fantasy power armor baby! Gotta exhaust that steam powered armor somehow... It’s this. It is for his steam powered gauntlet that he made to duplicate his father’s prosthetic arm (the late, great Burlok Damminsson from the 4th ed. Dwarf book).

The fun thing is that the furnace he's lugging around will need to be topped up during a battle - it can't hold that much coal. It's got a little hatch at the back, so at some point midway through a battle, some poor little dwarf is going to have to get up a stepladder and shovel a load of coal into there, or Grimm's left arm stops working.

sedge have I mentioned how much I like your painting style. Your models have such a great crisp look to them.

Progress made on the Forge World Lord/Thane - hopefully by the next time I have a game with my Dwarves, I'll be able to play a painted BSB so my troops don't all run away.

It was part of the "Dwarf Command Set" that Forge World had for several years - it only got dropped earlier this year, I think. There was the Thane Battle Standard Bearer above, plus the Lord you can see the back side of above, plus this Daemon Slayer: My understanding is that it was going to be part of the Battle for Blackfire Pass range - while that campaign book was dropped, some of the models made it to release anyway (such as the Orc Command Set, Empire Command Set, Wight King BSB, and various Night Goblin models). The Dwarves are great models - some people disliked them as they look hunched, but that's because they've got massive cloaks on their shoulders.
