Hi all,
What's your opinions on using the Regiments of Renown in 8th? Also does anyone know where I can find a copy of their rules?
I've got the unofficial 8th ed rules from the Warhammer Armies Project, generally I think the rules are fairly good but I would probably house rule some of them. For example in previous editions when he supported them, pikes fought in 4 ranks, however in the unofficial 8th they fight in 3, which sort of takes away some of their appeal!

I love regiments of renown due to how awesome they look.
I just use custom rules for Dogs of War which I have based off the original Dogs of War Army book/white dwarfs. I have looked at the Mathias version but didn't end up using it.
For pikes they fight in 4 ranks and have ASF and always have rerolls to opponents in the front. On the charge only 2 ranks can fight so they are really a defensive unit. Everyone I have played with likes the rules as the attacks are only strength 3 afterall.
Volands Venators Alcatani Fellowship Leopard Company Volands Venators Cursed Company Bearmen of Urslo Vespero (no Vendetta unfortunately, he is played as a lone 175 point hero)
Are the units I have and play with from time to time.

I can remember dualists being really overpowered back then, if you took a unit of 50, they could all stand and shoot, always, and kill everything that tried to harm them.

Does anyone know what rules Mahbruk(? - the member in Vietnam) uses, as he plays with Dogs a lot.

Does anyone know what rules Mahbruk(? - the member in Vietnam) uses, as he plays with Dogs a lot. I think he used the fan/tournament 8th upgrade to the Dogs of War list and not Mathias version. I remember years ago the Dogs of War actually won a tournament using that set of rules which was awesome. I read about it on the dogs of war forum. I'm pretty sure that's what Mahbruk was using. Either way his Dogs of War army is amazing and one of the very best I've seen. Super vibrant.

I’ve actually just started playtesting a Dogs of War list for my club to use. I wasn’t expecting it to be done for a few more weeks, but I’m happy to share the work in progress for evaluation.

Hi all,
Apologies for the delay but thanks all so much for the responses.
I'm part way through a unit of pikemen that I may well use. I'll post some pics at some point.
Hopefully I'll play test it at club in the new year!

I love the Regiments of Renown with their very fanciful characters and in a friendly game I use them as much as possible. The most useful RoR ever since the 5th edtion right to the current Warhammer Projects have always been Golfag’s Orges, Mengil’s flayers, Voland’s Venators and the Galloper gun but even in comparison with normal mercs, they are massive point-sink with questionable efficiency. Never the less, beating folks with Dow/RoR is a worthy and fun challenge that I quite relish. I currently use a mix rule for DoW/RoR that incorporates all the best, most advantageous aspect of the 5th edition (when Dow was quite decent) and the unofficial 8th edition of Warhammer Army projects. My pikemen fight ‘in three additional ranks’ after the standard 1st and 2nd rank for the total 5 ranks with ASF in the first round on the front. Lots of pointy death and still fluffy (and quite historical too)

Cheers mahbruck! I love the ideas of lots of pikes in a 2.5k point list!
With some cool characters too of course!
