Ho ho - hello!
In honor of us being close to the holidays, we venture into the icy cold of the Chaos Wastes for today's "Most Feared Unit" and talk about the bringers of the end of the world (no, not GW), but the Warriors of Chaos. Yes, those of unkillable lords, hard-to-kill core Warriors, Chosen and Skullcrushers. Whether you follow Nurgle, Tzeentch, Khorne or Slaneesh, you're one corrupted mothaf... just kidding...
anyway, what is your most feared unit from their roster, and how do you approach a game vs Warriors of Chaos with your army?

Like most armies it’s the duplicates choices and combos that get to me. Anything with a 3++ Ward, rerolling 1’s is just bullshit. The Uber flying daemon prince with duel Regen chimeras is a pain in the backside too.
I also dislike how overcosted normal marauders are (or perhaps how undercosted warriors are), as in a competitive game, there is almost no reason to take them.
I think the discs of tzeentch are under costed as well.
You may have gathered that I’m not a big fan of playing warriors 😀(although it depends on the opponent and what they choose to take of course).

The tooled up Nurgle flying Daemon Prince that heals itself with Soul Feeder, gains wounds/toughness as the game goes on from the lore attribute, and is virtually impossible to hit or wound. I had an opponent who use to bring that all the time, back when I was mainly playing Undead - so no real ranged threat to take it out. It took out my more expensive Vampire Lord on Coven Throne the one time I tried that model out The only time I managed to kill it was with End Times Neferata, who wore it down over several rounds of combat. Skullcrushers and Chimeras were annoying, as was a great Festus block of Nurgle warriors, but those could be dealt with, and there were usually a few ways to do so. It's the Daemon Prince that I couldn't kill or keep tied up.

This will be a fun topic for me to follow as I have an old Chaos Battalion box, and Slaves to Darkness (which I already got square bases for) queued up as my next army project.

Chaos giant, the most bent unit in the game...
Oh wait... Its over 200pts lol!
Agree with the above - Nurgle DPs Bsb D.Mounts 1+ 3++ 4S7 attacks... Fire Sword Lords on Disks 3+ T5 Chariots in Core Skullcrushers Chimeras
All bad news - their inbuilt weakness was they didn't have much else - so could usually be swamped...
But then again, that may have been because there was comp lol

Easy. Daemon prince. Takes over 200 empire halberdier attacks to kill. What really puts that beast over the top is 'unbreakable'. They just have no weakness except a lucky cannon ball.

Yeah... I Play chaos and I field my tooled up demon prince as a weapon of last resort should I ever face an WAAC player, a netlister... or someone who is just plain annoying.
Nurgle is of course the most egregious offender here... just the lore attribute coupled with all the other stuff you can load him up with means that this is one of the few single models that can turn a new player off the game forever.
of course there are other combos that can be repugnant: core chariots, double hellcannon, double chimeras, the Hortense Lord... the DP just happens to be the worst of the bunch.

Unbreakable flying Daemon Prince for me. Booo hiss. We play them with Daemons of Chaos leadership rules because Stubbon instability is good enough already and there's no reason that Warriors should have a better Daemon Prince than the army with Daemon in the title! Honourable mention- The Slaughterbrute- Can be absolutely devastating and cause huge damage..... but only to the player who fields it Anyone fielding a brutal build Daemon Prince (Nurgle, Tzeentch soul feeder builds etc) should be forced to field a Slaughterbrute as penance!

I also dislike how overcosted normal marauders are (or perhaps how undercosted warriors are), as in a competitive game, there is almost no reason to take them. SAME. And yet, like the ultimate dumb-dumb, I still take them! And they're still terrible.

And yet, like the ultimate dumb-dumb, I still take them! And they're still terrible. GW going crazy with their nerf/buff bats. I remember Damon Princes were considered overcosted and crap with the 7th Edition armybook (considerably more expensive points wise and Strength 5) and Marauders were arguably the most undercosted unit in the game at a mere 4 points (take that Empire soldiery!) Then for 8th they did a complete flip. Typical Games Workshop.

But I prefer challenges. 😊 I always try to play units that aren't the norm and something that one person had success with. Now, if someone takes an OP Demon Prince and double Chimeras, or whatever GW made overly powerful - you better believe I'm not gonna have a problem bringing 4 cannons and two Steam Tanks!
