Why no option for a Mangler Squig as Character mount?

Goblin players rejoice! You can now play the Gloomspite Gitz army in WFB! Check out the first draft below: We should test this soon!

Thank you Kevin. Has any one done a list for eighth edition for using the Age of Sig Night haunt miniatures?

Thx for the list, I will certainly use this list when I get my hands on those new goblins!
Cheers, WGG

Thank you Kevin. Has any one done a list for eighth edition for using the Age of Sig Night haunt miniatures? ----I'm working on one, just fell behind with it. Just out of curiosity, are you using GW-produced AOS rules and “transferring” them to WFB in a way that it makes sense or following intuition? In particular for these Gitz, are the AOS rules even out yet?

Cool stuff! A few thoughts: - Creeping Gloom - presumably they still can't charge if they choose to Vanguard and go first?
- Any chance shamans can ride Giant/Gigantic Spiders too? It always struck me as odd that GW never let common gobbo shamans ride spider mounts.
- You've got no character able to ride an Arachnarok Spider - is that an oversight?
- Giant Hill Trolls - these are a massive improvement on Giants; that regen save makes a significant difference to their survivability. I don't think Stupidity and the Leadership drop are big enough counterbalances. I don't think that a big troll is necessarily much more intelligent than a little troll - their brain being twice the size isn't saying much when it was pea-sized to begin with! (Plus that brain has twice as much body to remember to control.) I'd suggest Leadership 6-7 so they still need a level of babysitting to function reliably, and potentially drop Stubborn too.
- Troll Chieftan - for fluff/model/balance reasons I don't think trolls of any form should be able to wear armour. The new GW model isn't armoured, trolls just seem too dim to comprehend the need for armour, and also the ease with which you can currently get this character to have a 1+ armour save, 4+ regen and 2+ ward vs. flaming, makes it a bit too strong (Stone Troll upgrade, Enchanted Shield, Dragonbane Gem). I'd suggest they not be allowed to take mundane or regular armour, the same as wizards - being able to get the Dragonbane Gem and Stone/River Troll upgrades is enough to make them a monster to kill.
- Gobrantulas sound awesome!
- Loon Shaman Cabal - do miscasts work the same for them as regular wizards? For 300 points you can get yourself a 20 wound Lvl 4 Loremaster, so potentially there needs to be a bigger risk from miscasts to balance out what is a very tough casting unit.
- Moonshrine - how would characteristic tests work for this? It's more like a piece of terrain - while I can see it getting smashed to bits by conventional means, I think a Purple Sun should have the same (non) effect that it does when passing over an Arcane Ruin or Elven Waystone.
- Any plans for the new Sneaky Snufflers (the ones with little "Snufflesquigs") or Sporesplatta Fanatics to get rules?

My rules are based on gobliny intuition, the new models, and 30 years of WFB experience

My answers are in red:- Creeping Gloom - presumably they still can't charge if they choose to Vanguard and go first?
- ----- They have the Vanguard rule (except it's D6" movement, rather than 12"), is it really unclear?
- Any chance shamans can ride Giant/Gigantic Spiders too? It always struck me as odd that GW never let common gobbo shamans ride spider mounts.
- --------Agreed, I'll modify in the next draft.
- You've got no character able to ride an Arachnarok Spider - is that an oversight?
- ------Oversight. Thanks, I'll fix in the next draft.
- ----------I disagreed, stupidity and LD 8 is a massive difference.

- ----------I'll consider this.
- Gobrantulas sound awesome!
- ---------Thanks, I love them!
- Loon Shaman Cabal - do miscasts work the same for them as regular wizards? For 300 points you can get yourself a 20 wound Lvl 4 Loremaster, so potentially there needs to be a bigger risk from miscasts to balance out what is a very tough casting unit.
- ------------So the model you nominate in the Magic phase counts as a Wizard and can miscast. Remember they are a skirmishing unit, you can't hide them. They can be potentially shot to pieces. Either way, I think they need some heavy playtesting.
- Moonshrine - how would characteristic tests work for this? It's more like a piece of terrain - while I can see it getting smashed to bits by conventional means, I think a Purple Sun should have the same (non) effect that it does when passing over an Arcane Ruin or Elven Waystone.
- ---------I'm not sure. It's not an expensive unit, so I'm not really concerned about this. Anyone else have thoughts?
- Any plans for the new Sneaky Snufflers (the ones with little "Snufflesquigs") or Sporesplatta Fanatics to get rules?
- -------------I intend to add them. Still thinking about them...

FYI, I'm working on the second draft, which will probably be posted by the end of the month. It will include the Loonboss on Mangler Squigs, Night Goblin Sneaky Snufflers, Forest Goblin characters (Night Goblin characters will not have the option to ride spiders), and the option to make a Troll army with a Troll Chieftain as the army general, to name a few changes.

My opinion would be to see what the AOS rules are for the new units and using your experience to "bring" those rules that GW created to 8th edition. That way we continue following GW's overall direction for the units but adding your yum yum sauce.

Everything is just this "causes mortal wounds." You have to write what makes sense in 8th edition terms.

Looking forwards to what you come up with. There's some great stuff for you to play with I'm looking forwards to seeing all the new models in the flesh.
