Looks great!
I think it is too uniform to be considered an O&G hut. You could possibly "crude it up" by tacking on broken boards here and there, adding rough-hewn spikes around the base, and cave-man-ish drawings on the walls if you want it to appear as though it was occupied by an Orc or Goblin tribe.
The other option, as you said, would be to add Human elements (I think Dwarves would've made a stone structure and Elves would've made it out of marble or something. Possibly Lizardmen. The roof looks kinda scale-ish) to adorn the walls, and if you were to make a base for it, you could put some objects like a stone pilaster with signage and/or torches attached so that it could make a little more thematic sense. Storehouses might need lighting to them as well! (If it's houses important things!)
I think you have a great start. It just needs a bit of detail to put it over the top and a great conversation terrain piece!

That round hut looks like a really well build granary. I think you are right in not putting on shields etc. It looks like something the orcs may want to pilllage (but they couldn't have built it themselves).
Also another vote for the warlord games skeletons. As you say, they are about the only skeletons I am aware of that would fit 'inside' a typical Empire soldier. In particular the shin bones/ankles on most other offerings are ridiculously massive. Putting them together is a bit fiddly but not an exercise in frustration like e.g. some ill-fitting multipart metal kit of yore. I am not sold on their hand weapons but should be easy enough to sub in other bits. The spears look great though.

The only other ones I can think of are the older 3rd Edition plastic Skeletons, which are definitely able to fit inside the newer scale humans.

So been a long while since I remembered to update my painting log here. I took a new job along with being in college and life has been insanely busy for the last 12 months, I kept up with painting for the first half of the year anyway but only managed to keep one forum log active, as I was just so busy. A bout of illness has given a much needed afternoon off and I've had the first proper sit down I've had for at least four months! So I'm copying over my posts from lead adventure to here and having a catch up with the posts I've missed. I suspect I will be just as busy until I graduate next summer but after that I can go back to dedicating way more time than I should to all things WFB. I've been quiet smitten with oathmark since it's release too, but thankfully most projects are interchangeable between 8th & Oathmark, bar some basing rules which don't bother me too much. End of November 2019 painting: So I finished off the basing for the first few oathmark dwarves and did a test model for my Albion humans, using warlords Celts. I am really enjoying painting these kits and I'm really looking forward to the oathmark rules getting released, as well as all the new minis they have lined up for release next year. The dwarf shields have had some minor conversion work done (I added the runes to them) and I've tried to keep the colour schemes for the two warbands similar enough that they work together for when I want to combine them for larger campaign games. I'm likely to add some more detail to the Albion (celts) when I start on them properly, such as tattoos, but left this one kind of plain as to have a base line colour scheme to work from later on. I've the first of the metal dwarven heroes almost done as well, he just needs basing. I stupidly forgot to order the banner I wanted for this unit when I last placed an order, so I'll have to leave the banner model until I can order it, as I don't know how large it will be and will need to base him to allow for the room for the banner to not mess up the rest of the unit.

January 2020 painting: Started a dark elf chariot over the new year. (I'm jumping between projects so I'm able to keep something workable on my desk at all times, so on busy days I still feel I'm making some painting progress on something. It's not efficient, but it does keep me from getting nothing done or losing interest in a unit!)

February 2020 painting: Wip of my dwarf Slayer Mini from the most recent (and last ) Fenris games kickstarter. He's a massive lad compared to the oathmark chaps and he'll need a thicker base to stand on, as he'll need to be pinned as he is just so heavy! He was such a fun model to paint though.

April 2020: Originally going to be for a mordheim game over christmas that sadly got canned. Managed to get hold of enough for a whole unit since then, so will probably rebase him as part of a pack instead, as it's unlikely our Mordheim game will go ahead anytime soon now!

More April 2020 Painting:
Oathmark Heavy Dwarf champion Painted this one last night. Spare model out of the warlord games starter set I have, so used him to practice my Averland scheme.

More April painting: My dwarf army is growing, very slowly! But I'm doing a model or two for all my armies in-between batch painting ghosts/undead. Painted this dwarf lady, found her rather hard to paint. Nice model but some of the details are not very sharp. Still, shouldn't see the mistakes once shes tucked inside a whole unit.

More April 2020 Painting!: Getting through my undead at a pretty decent speed for me! At this rate I might even have the bulk of the army done before the 2nd oathmark expansion & the undead rules are even released! First two ranks are done and a third is drying out and waiting basing. I did have a swap around last night though, originally was using the candle stick ghost as the unit champion but think he's been downgraded to a stand-in standard bearer. Added the briar queen from the underworlds game, the model is super fragile and I thought she would be safer inside a unit than trying to use her for anything else. Once the last rank is done I'll add the grass (I love adding grass & basing, so thought it would be a good thing to leave to get me to paint faster!) and then I have 6 more skeletons to paint and that is both units complete.

Even more April 2020!: (I must have had an easy month at work/Uni! ) Just a quick update this morning on my painting. Sorry for the shoddy picture but I wanted to document the progress. I am almost done with an entire unit, my skeletons are almost complete! It's been a very, very long time since I've managed to paint a large scale unit from start to finish. So I'm pretty pleased with myself! It's not the only almost complete unit either, my ghosts are well on the way to being near completion too! Just need another long build session to build the back rank. Just got to finish off the basing on these chaps, there is a crow to paint on the unit filler and they are done! So it might be cheating a little to say the unit is complete- I do have to go back over and add decals to the shields but I've not chosen a design I like yet so intend to leave that until I have a couple more units done and I can pick something that fits the whole army. I don't have the unit champion built or any of the other 'heroes' (standard/skeleton trumpeter!) but when I add them, It just means the 2nd unit of skeletons is easy to complete as I have some models to remove from here! And yes, I have used a unit filler. But I like adding them and I can always add some more skeletons in now, I originally planned the unit filler when I only had the 24 model kit to work from and wanted enough to stretch into a unit of bows as well! But I have like 200 to work with now, but still like unit fillers!

First skeleton unit is done! They are (almost!) complete! I need to hardcoat the leaves so they don't blow away, shields are blank for a later day and my crow needs adding to the unit filler tree stump, but other than that, a finished and gaming ready unit! I was very pleased with this unit, getting it finished was great and they don't take too long to paint at all. Many more to go but I'm still pleased with these!

May 2020 Painting: I had a huge supply drop from Victrix minis yesterday, which means I now have the main parts for my Albion warhost! (also sneaked in some huscarls to go with my Lewis Collins kickstarter minis I've not done anything with yet!) I've been wanting to do this army for years so I couldn't wait to get stuck into it so, so I started working on my first conversion parts for the war elephant and putting together the first unit so I can do some more colour tests! Did some more building work this afternoon and then took a break from cleaning mould lines to paint some skin tests. I've never really liked painting human skin and the thought of having to paint 200+ skinful humans is daunting. I needed a skin recipe that I both liked & could knock out very quickly. The one I tried earlier in the year was very quick but a real pain if you need to fix a mistake or slip up. The one I tried today takes a little longer to do, with an additional extra colour, but I can probably do the skin on 5 of these in an hour including drying time. I thinks that's good enough for me and it's a little closer to how I'd do my skin on something like a dwarf or armoured empire chap, so they should mix together well! I'm now just waiting on a huge delivery of bases so I can really crack on with these. But I'll try to get the rest of his mates built tonight and see how I get on batch painting the skin. I had to censor him as I posted the WIP on facebook and people tend to get very upset about skin over there!

End of May 2020 painting log: Small update- final weeks of the college term and working from home has me loosing sleep on getting my final reports in, but managed to paint up my Albion war elephant last weekend! Still needs a couple of details finishing (I missed the toenails and not decided on eye colour yet!) and the base still needs painting! But he's almost ready for war! No oathmark rules for him yet, but he's ready for when chariot rules get their release later this year!
