Hi, i am fairly to 8th edition and to the Forum. I played couple of games lately and we ran into a problem with challenges. My unit with a hero model in it engaged my opponent's unit, also with hero model. Two heroes engaged each other in a challenge. After one round of combat, both heroes were alive and still dueling but the enemy unit has been totally wiped out by mine. He passed his leadership test so the fight should continue. My question is whether in following rounds of combat, my unit gets to do anything, or they just watch my hero fight his duel, as they don't have enemies left to fight. As far as I know I can't leave the duel unless one side dies. In our game we assumed they are effectively stunned and can only wait and watch as two heroes fight each other. I am sorry if the answer is in the rulebook or in some other thread but i didn't find it.

The unit just has to stand there and wait for the challenge to end due to one side dying or the enemy character fleeing.

All right, that's what we thought. Thanks for clarification.

What crownprinceimrik says. BRB p. 103: "If both competitors survive a challenge, and the combat continues, then they will continue to fight in the next round of close combat." Since both survived, and the enemy hero passed his Break test, the combat continues, and thus the challenge too.

im surprised he would pass a leadership test if the entire unit was wiped, sounds like double 1's would be needed
