The other day we had a 3000 point brawl between High Elves and Lizardmen. High Elves wasn’t my top choice to play but my son wanted to see how his Lizardmen matched up against them. I wanted to play Chaos Dwarfs again, but after our last game he wasn’t eager to have his Slann shutdown by an Ash Storm. So on to the armies…
High Elves
BSB, Anointed of Asierian, Lore Master of Hoeth
28 Spearelves with full command
18 Archers with musician
5 Reavers with Bows & Spears
10 Silverhelms with full command and shields
20 Swordmasters full command
20 more Swordmasters with full command
24 White Lions full command (the mage in the back is a white lion stand in, 1 short)
4 Bolt Throwers
2 Great Eagles
Flamespyre Phoenix
Lizardmen
Scar Vet on Carnisaur
Slann & Tetto’Eko, (among other things Slann has Lore Master Shadow magic)
30 Saurus with full command & spears
Skink Cohort full command, 3 Krox
Two units of 10 Skinks
28 Templeguard full command (same Slann as above)
Stegadon & Bastiladon
3 Salamanders
6 Chameleon Skinks
Trogledon
Set up
Reavers Vanguard. Annointed and BSB are with the Spearelves. Lore Master is on the rock with the Archers. Chameleon Skinks are hiding in the rock to the far left, by the Reavers.
Lizardmen turn 1
Slann casts Miasma on the Archers. Chameleons and Salamander take out 2 Reavers.
High Elves turn 1
Reavers charge the Chameleon Skinks, who flee and set of a chain panic. They flee through the Salamander and then the Cohort, which both flee. Bolt Thrower kills a single Templeguard. Silverhelms charge the skinks on the right flank, but with Cold Blooded & Insane Courage they hold.
Lizardmen turn 2
The Cohort rallies, but the Chameleons and the Salamander are gone. Trogledon joins the fun on the Silverhelms. The remaining Skink breaks from combat but the Trogledon holds. The Great Eagles frustrate the rest of the Lizardmen movement. Tetto’Eko causes a panic on the green Swordmasters who bolt.
High Elves turn 2
Green Swordmasters rally. The Phoenix goes after the Salamander. Blue Swordmasters try to help out the Silverhelms, however between regular attacks and Thunder Stomp the Trogledon kills 8 Swordmasters. Silverhelms bolt but the Swordmasters hold. Bolt Throwers pluck off two more Templeguard.
Lizardmen turn 3
Carnosaur charges in and eats the Phoenix for breakfast, cooked chicken is better than cold chicken. Eagles flee from Templeguard and Saurus. Cohort charges the White Lions and break after the Kroxigors are chopped to bits. Both the Bastiladon and Tetto pummel the green Swordmasters. The blue Swordmasters destroy the Trogledon and reform.
Highelves turn 3
Party at the Slann’s House and everyone is envited!
Silverhelms and Eagles rally. Bolt Throwers pepper the Carnosaur and Scar Vet. Templeguard take a beating but hold.
Lizardmen turn 4
Carnosaur decides that charging Swordmasters is better then bolts to the face.
Stegadon crashes the party ☹
Not sure if we did the angle of flight correctly but both the Spearelves and Swordmasters were caught.
Saurus turn to face the White Lions. Swordmasters cut down the Carnosaur but the Scar Vet is still kicking.
High elves turn 4
Silverhelms make the long charge to the Templeguard, who hold. Bolt Throwers take out the Stegadon before he can wreck another party. White Lions take a beating from the Saurus.
Lizardmen turn 5
Skink Cohort musters up their courage and charges the White Lions in the flank. Skins and Saurus leave just the champion.
Silverhelms left 1 Templeguard, which keeps the Slann Stubborn.
High Elves turn 5
Eagle charges Tetto’Eko.
The Eagle beats Tetto who runs. The Eagle pursues catching Tetto and hitting the Bastiladon wall. The other Eagle charges the Skinks, who flee and are run down. The last Templeguard goes down but the Slann holds. The Skinks take out the White Lion champion.
Lizardmen turn 6
In a surprising event the Cohort charges the Eagle who flees, rolling triple ones, and gets rundown by the skinks. The other Eagle can’t scratch the Batiladon and the Slann sits happy on his Ward Save.
High Elves turn 6
Bolt Throwers pick on the Saurus and Cohort but can’t panic them. Slann holds firm.
This was a good one that ended in a tie. The eagle overrunning into the Batiladon was big, since it kept the Bolt Throwers from shooting at him. The Slann holding also kept the scales even. It was definitely a fun game that had some good ups and downs for both sides. I was surprised at how well the Saurus cut down the White Lions. I need to learn not to underestimate Saurus. This was my first time I used the Phoenix, so that was a bit of a learning experience.
As always I hope you all enjoyed.
