The stars aligned and I managed to wangle a game yesterday. I was informed I was victory-less in 2018, I have no idea if this is accurate but it seemed a perfect time to rectify it!
I have been wanting to try out a list utilising Mork's War Banner and having just finished the FW command it seemed like the perfect opportunity! I figured the best way to go with this is a Black Orc Big Boss making use of the extra pip of WS and animosity quelling. I wanted an Orc Warboss to go alongside him in the new unit of Orc Boyz I had, to complete the ambush, so I gave him the Fencer's Blades, Armour of Silvered Steel and a Potion of Toughness. The rest of the list was Orc heavy (sadly I didn't have enough core for a full Orc list) with a SO Great Shaman in some Big'uns with the mandatory Lucky Shrunken Head.
Orc Warboss (Fencer's Blades, Armour of Silvered Steel, Potion of Toughness)
Savage Orc Great Shaman (Lvl 4, Lucky Shrunken Head)
Black Orc Big Boss (Shield, Mork's War Banner)
28 Orc Boyz (AHW, Full Command)
23 Savage Orc Big 'Uns (AHW, Full Command)
31 Night Goblins (Netters, Full Command)
20 Black Orcs (Full Command)
10 Orc Boar Boyz (Spears, Shields, Full Command)
Spear Chukka
Arachnarok Spider
Doom Diver
Doom Diver
Mangler Squig
Pump Wagon (Spikey roller)
I didn't know who I would be facing and it turned out to be Warriors of Chaos, not a terrible matchup for O&G in my experience. Lots of high value pieces to crash things into. His list was featuring Sigvald and was Slaanesh based. It was roughly (probably missing some of the magic items etc):
Sigvald
Chaos Sorceror Lord (Lvl 3, Slaanesh, Charmed Shield)
Exalted Hero BSB (Slaanesh)
Exalted Hero (Slaanesh, Daemonic Mount, Sword of Striking, Enchanted Shield)
20 Marauders (Slaanesh, Flails)
21 Chaos Warriors (Slaanesh, Shields)
6 Chaos Ogres (Slaanesh, Great Weapons)
5 Chaos Warhounds
6 Chaos Knights (Slaanesh, Enscorcelled Weapons)
Chaos Chariot (Slaanesh)
Dragon Ogre Shaggoth
My brother complained at me rolling a 6 for scenery again but then reflected a busy table may help his Warriors a little. It ended up with a central village flanked by some woods with a river partially along one edge. For spells I rolled Foot of Gork and Fists of Gork with 2 free choices. I opted for Hand of Gork (obviously) and after some pondering went for Eadbutt to target any pesky sorcerers. He rolled Acquiescence, Cacophonic Choir and Phantasmagoria, 3 excellent spells from an excellent lore! I deployed my Boar Boyz and random movers along the clearest patch of board to avoid any obstacles and my infantry in the centre, with my Orc Boyz pointed at his character bunkers. The NG were placed on my left to protect the war machines from the lone Exalted Hero he put out there and the Warhounds. I figured my Bolt Thrower would be safe-ish on the other side of the river unless he fancied some dangerous terrain tests for the sake of a ~30 point kill
