it'll probably be a Mordheim relaunch... Which don't get me wrong I'm all for, it's just that I'd like the alternative better

At the absolute worst case, maybe we at least get GW supplying square bases again?

this reminds of the old adage: "if you wish to wound someone who has lost everything, give him back something broken" cautiously pessimistic they'll do something to make me angry all over again

this reminds of the old adage: "if you wish to wound someone who has lost everything, give him back something broken" cautiously pessimistic they'll do something to make me angry all over again Clearly the way to counter that is to imagine your favourite possession being broken in the worst imaginable ways, and thus when you're given back something just regular-level broken, you don't feel quite so bad. Thus, I propose that GW will be bringing back WFB on square bases in the following form: Tzeentch discovers a way to open a warp portal and send minions back in time to the Old World, to try and subvert its destruction to ensure his dominance over the other Chaos gods. He sends back his greatest champions - but his plot is discovered by all the other leading AoS actors, who send back their own through the portal, seeking to achieve their own ends. As such, the Empire is now ruled by chief Sigmarine Lord Celestial Hammerhands, and Middenheim has been razed to construct a giant golden statue of a Sigmarine. Elsewhere, a Fyreslayer Berzerker has liberated Karak Eight Peaks, killing off Skarsnik and Queek with his vulkite fyresteel axe, and the new Dawi occupants have reclaimed a hidden hoard of gold, which they are hammering into their flesh whilst wearing nothing more than strategically placed loincloths that they occasionally set fire to for no apparent reason. Nagash took over Khemri (again) and merged all the undead there into one giant skele-monster set to traverse the world, harvesting corpses. Settra is embedded in its crotch. In Athel Loren, the elves have mated with trees to create a new hybrid race, while Drycha has developed a honey addiction that sees her possess only trees with beehives present. In Naggaroth the elves have mated with fish and their offspring now dwell in the Sea of Chill (except a few who escaped with Morathi by mating with snakes - they've taken over Lustria). The elves of Ulthuan forgot to mate, so died off. All followers of Khorne have now been renamed "Aspiring Exalted Bloodbleeders" and wield Skullygore Axes (TM). Finally, Tzeentch's warp portal opened into Bretonnia, so that's been wiped from the map entirely. Whatever they come up with can't be worse than that? Please?

All things come round again. Not "around".
I assume it'll be old models getting re-released on a semi permanent level (squares to round?), or a formation where squares can be used...
With the smallest and most random off-chance, has GW heard the pleas from their older fan base?
Knowing old & new GW, I doubt it.
But then again, stranger things have happened, like Brexit.

I hope they don't bring back WFB. I don't want a WFB game/world with Sigmarines and all sorts of other AoS nonsense. A new WFB would further kill off the already dwindling player base of 8th edition.

Kyle and Blu from squarehammer released a good supposition video on this (just ignore the clicking every time the backdrop loops).

If they *did* release new rules and they were terrible I would just continue playing 8th instead. Any new models/support are welcome though. My ideal situation would be a slightly corrected 8th coming out as a specialist game, followed up with army books for the missing factions. You can dream..

They must know that they can at least make a tonne of money just releasing rulebooks/army books?
People will buy them, they don't even technically need to support with models. They have us by the balls, and I don't think they know it, lol
