a question to the more green-skinned members on this forum:
If I charge a unit with a Night Goblin unit that contains fanatics, do I halt the charge 8" away and release the fanatics or do I conclude the charge?

My limited understanding is that you stop 8 inches away. Fanatics are released and move 2D6 in the direction chosen by the controlling player then you complete the charge. If the fanatic falls short of your unit then you charge through it, normal rules for coming into contact with a fanatic follow.
Happy to be corrected if that's complete rubbish!

Pg 53 of the Orc & Goblin book says "chargers must complete their charge unless panicked".

Wow, been playing this wrong since 1995.
We always played it as you could choose if you wanted to continue the charge or not, lol!

Wow, been playing this wrong since 1995. We always played it as you could choose if you wanted to continue the charge or not, lol! You haven't been playing it wrong that long. I'm pretty sure in the 6th or 7th book you could choose to complete the charge.

6-8th have all the same rule: you MUST complete the charge, unless panicked. The 4th Edition (1993) specifies that continuing the charge is optional; Ravening Hordes (2000) is silent on the matter, but 2000 saw also the 6th edition AB. So, it would seem that @discoqing has been playing it wrong since 2000.
