So my brother and I have been playing High Elves V Dark Elves for as long as we have been playing Fantasy (since just before the 8th ed books came out for our respective armies)
We nearly always play 2500, occasionally 4000, and there was even that one 11,000 that lasted all day-
What I can say from all of this is: We generally only ever successfully cast two spells each in an average game, we both know both books frontwards and backwards (depending on how much ale is gone from our horns), and our few other friends who play end up getting shredded in 80% of games (Brets, OnG, and Dorfs + my empire gunline and stormcast armies that are part of my cheesy Funtimes lists)
Anyhow, he and I have a game coming up this weekend, and I am coming in with an obviously themed list (as winning has become secondary to the Cheese after all these years). They will (likely) be facing Dorkblade+Cold one bus w/ LVL 4 of death/shadow/dark, WE Deathstar w/ cauldron, 1or2 Hydra (depending on Helebron's attendance), and herohunter on peg (as his BSB if he chooses Helebron)
My List:
Lords: (285)
Archmage lvl4 high, BoH, Golden Crown (285)
Heroes:(499)
Caradryan on Ashtari (320)
Seahelm BSB, BotWD, bow (179)
Core: (635)
5 reavers, mus (90)
5 reavers, bows, mus (95)
35 seaguard, shields, Full CMD, (450) (AM,SH go here)
Special: (600)
35 Phoenixguard, Full CMD, Razor Std (600)
Rare: (480)
2x Frostheart (480)
My thinking is to use reavers as chaff while he heads down field taking shots. Each block has a Frostheart on hand to strip his ASF. PG can hopefully clean up his bus while the deathstar is given the run-around. Hydra will be pitted by a Frostheart, depending on placement (I win that 1v1, on average). Once all is said and done, converge on the deathstar. BOTWD is nice against Malus Darkblade, but I may need it is SG if he tries to use magic on my otherwise most vulnerable unit. Obviously SH isn't Top-Pick for BSB, but it makes (imho) SG usable in the matchup.
First post here, and thank you all for the great reading material!
