Tamurkhan Turn 1
A general advance with the Soul Grinder attempting to use the Beasts to block any potentially incoming cannonballs but misfired attempting to shoot. The chariot pressed up on the left flank with the Knights swinging around that side. The Ironbreakers took a little damage from the Reign of Chaos.
Dwarf Turn 1
The Slayers charged the Nurglings who had advanced on the Flame Cannon. The Gyrocopters moved to block and shoot the other Nurglings. The Hammerers and Longbeards advanced towards the watchtower. The Ironbreakers swung around to defend their right flank. The Cannon and the Grudge Thrower both took aim at the nearest Chariot and blasted it to pieces.
Tamurkhan Turn 2
With the tide of battle having swung against the Chaos host, they suffered the Scorn of Chaos. The Rot Knights turned treacherous and decided to wander away from the fight. Despite this, the Plague Drones made a long charge into the Rangers and the Nurglings charged a Gyrocopter who fled, redirecting into the Flame Cannon. The rest of the Chaos army continued to advance, the Plaguebearer horde reforming to maneuver around the tower. The Reign of Chaos was also kind with a unit of Bloodletters Summoned from Beyond, behind the Thunderers. In combat, the Slayers finished off the first unit of Nurglings. The Plague Drones, having weathered the Stand and Shoot from the Rangers, broke the Dwarfs and ran them down.
Dwarf Turn 2
The Slayers, having finished with the Nurglings, went to seek their doom with the nearby Beasts of Nurgle. The Longbeards and Hammerers continued to advance on the watchtower. The fleeing Gyrocopter rallied and the other continued to harass the remaining Nurglings. The Ironbreakers failed to swift reform so turned back towards the centre. The Dwarf artillery continued to be effective with the Grudge Thrower landing a direct hit on the Soul Grinder and coming up with a 6 on the wounds.
Tamurkhan Turn 3
Annoyingly, the Soul Grinder death to the Grudge Thrower ensured that the Scorn of Chaos continued, and the Chaos host not only suffered continuing Treachery but there was also Discord within the ranks. The Bloodletters charged the Thunderers and the second Beast charged into the Slayers. The Rot Knights continued away from the action. The Chariot swung around the flank and the Plague Drones, fresh from victory, reformed to bear down on the enemy war machines. The Great Unclean One and Plaguebearers moved around either side of the watchtower and tried to Plague Wind the Longbeards but failed. Instead, it cast Curse of the Leper on the Flame cannon, allowing the Nurglings to kill the last of the Flame Cannon crew.
Dwarf Turn 3
The Dwarfs continued their slow advance, with the Hammerers taking up a defensive position on the bank of the river, the Longbeards moving in close to the watchtower. The Ironbreakers advanced into the village. The Gyrocopter unleashed it’s steam gun on the Nurglings and killed them. The Cannon also managed a direct hit on the remaining Chariot, destroying it. The Slayers also managed to kill both Beasts of Nurgle, through direct axe usage and Daemonic Instability, thus ensuring the Scorn of Chaos continued..
Tamurkhan Turn 4
The Plague Drones charged the Grudge Thrower and the Plaguebearers, after considering whether they really wanted to be in the river or not, charged the Hammerers anyway. The Rot Knights treachery continued as they made their way all the way to the edge of the battlefield. The Great Unclean One moved around the flank of the Slayers and used it’s gifted breath attack and cast a Plague Wind on them, reducing the Slayers to 5. The Plague Drones killed the Grudge Thrower crew easily and overran into the Cannon. The Plaguebearers and Hammerers began a bloody combat, with the Plaguebearers not benefitting from being Steadfast due to fighting in the river.
Dwarf Turn 4
The Longbeards moved into the watchtower to secure the objective. The Ironbreakers advanced on the Great Unclean One, alongside both Gyrocopters who moved up to block it’s escape. The Slayers moved further into the village. The Thunderers managed to fight off the Bloodletters who had been summoned but the Cannon crew were slain by the Plague Drones. The Hammerers continued to inflict heavy pain on the Plaguebearers, but the daemons were aided by Reality Blinks, and all of their casualties were restored.
Tamurkhan Turn 5
Finally free from the Scorn of Chaos the Rot Knights tried to move back and rejoin the fight. The Great Unclean One charged the nearest Gyrocopter and the remaining Plague Drone charged the Thunderers. The Great Unclean One cast Curse of the Leper on the Plaguebearers to aid them in their fight and Rancid Visitations on the Ironbreakers. The Thunderers saw off the Plague Drone with a combination of gunfire and axes, reforming towards the centre.
Dwarf Turn 5
The Slayers turned to face the Great Unclean One, the Gyrocopter flying over it and bombing it. The Ironbreakers and Thunderers moved up to try and support. The bloody combat between the Plaguebearers and Hammerers was drawing to a conclusion as both sides were wittled down, the Herald was also slain in the combat.
Tamurkhan Turn 6
I didn’t realise which turn we are on and we had forgotten to roll for the end of the game at all, so I still held out a vain hope of victory.. the Rot Knights continued to try and get back to the action. The Great Unclean One charged the Slayers and fulfilled their vow.
Dwarf Turn 6
The Ironbreakers moved to block the advance of the Great Uncean One on the watchtower and the Gyrocopter moved to block the oncoming Rot Knights. The Thunderers moved up to support the Hammerers, who in combat were reduced to just the Lord left standing, who fled in the face of the Daemons. As much as I wanted to cut him down, the only way the watch tower could be attacked was by restraining..
We finally remembered to roll to end the game and it ended!
The Dwarfs held the watchtower and won a comprehensive victory. I could have really done with those Rot Knights..
The Scouring was complete.. Tamurkhan’s horde wins the phase 3 CP – 2 CP and the Border Princes were thoroughly scoured.. Tamurkhan’s army gaining a veteran ability for the final phase. Hello ward save for Tamurkhan!
