I suppose even though these books are OOP cpyright still applies huh? I thought of that as I was posting but for some reason it didn't click... Well, I guess I'll need to hunt down an empire book then. What if you "renamed" the item but gave it the exact same profile? Still too close? Games Workshop still sells the 8th edition army books via iBooks so they are still available in some format. Is it just Ghal Maraz you are curious about? Iirc Glaz Maraz has 2 different profiles, one in the Empire book which I use and one in End Times Glottkin. I actually play Valten as the Empire book Karl Franz on horse with Ghal Maraz.

Got a game in last night and Lord Spikus made his debut so I got to test out the Lord Celestant on Dracoth. He ended up surviving the battle with his loyal Dracoth left on 1 wound. Overall he performed exceptionally well. He tanked the impact hits from Druk then finished him off with ease. At this stage 3 wounds on the Lord Celestant, 3 on the Dracoth remaining. Finally Lord Spikus successfully took out this entire unit singlehandedly. In hindsight it's possible we played this wrong as we played the Dracoth as a monster with a thunderstomp. It does have 4 wounds and seems bigger than the new monstrous cavalry Stormcast so maybe it is a monster? Anyway, Lord Celestant on Dracoth proved absolutely beastly in this game. Did heaps of damage and was very resistant.

I've thought about it and read the new draft 3 list again with the templars and it seems the Dracoth should be played as a monstrous beast with a stomp.
Question regarding this KevC can you please confirm this is the way to play these? Dracoth should not be separately attackable? Drakesworn Templars have 4 wounds due to the Dracoth having 4?
We were playing the Dracoth as a monster with a 3+ armor save. I only skimmed the Stormcast 8th rules before we battle. Having now reread the Draft 3 list I have no idea where i got that from?
Regardless the Lord Celestant is a combat monster. My Beastlord Hoodhorn proved no match for him and was hammered 🔨

Dracoths are Monstrous Beasts and when mounted are Monstrous Cavalry. Dracothian Templars have a total of 4 Wounds because you use the highest Wound characteristic. There total armour save is 1+.

Any thoughts on Sigmarite armour? I'm considering dropping the Ward save to 6+...

Any thoughts on Sigmarite armour? I'm considering dropping the Ward save to 6+... I would be supportive of that. A mate of mine thinks currently they are a bit too hard to kill. I think for the higher points lords it's fine however for the standard Stormcast Eternals it makes them very hard to remove for Strength 3 and 4 troops considering their 3 wounds. Due to their special rules they can dish the wounds so it's not like they are anvils. A hero would normally have to pay 30 points for a 5+ ward save. If you put a Paladin/Retributor vs a Hero from most army books worth around 100-125 points in a head to head it would be hard for the hero to win. Due to their solid armor armour save and 3 wounds the Stormcast Eternals would still feel tank with a 6+ ward save.

It seems through many play tests that the Stormcastes are a but too strong. Granted they are extra good against Chaos.
I'm thinking the best solution to balance them out is to eliminate their ward save from the armour, though keep their current points cost. Considering they are T4, 3W, and armour save 4+ (3+ and parry with shield) they are tough enough. And/or perhaps give them Magic Resistance (2) rather than 5+ ward...
Any thoughts??
