Thanks, Anton! I'm actually going to be trying to get as many old special characters as I can find. So far I have Kragg the Grim that you see above, and I have Burlok Damminson and King Kazador on their way through the mail. Who am I missing?

Do you have the Grudge of Drong ones? Especially the female one?

Well, I've actually got Drong the Hard on its way too, but I couldn't find a Queen Helgar that wasn't ridiculously expensive. I've got the Runesmith Grungthe Grudge Bringer from that set already, but I don't have the Miner Krudd "Mad" Mattock or Skagg the Stealthy either. I have a Joseph Bugman with 18 Bugman's Rangers and another Joseph Bugman standing on two barrels. I have a White Dwarf but no Gotrek though.

I know you made your own Ungrim Ironfist but there is also the old metal mini. Also there is Malakai Makaisson and the goblin hewer.

Looks good. If you're going to take the time to do a little freehand on the banners you should take a little time to fill in those feet gaps.

Meh, the banner's more noticeable. Besides, this is just for my personal use. I have WAAAY too many models still on their sprues to be worried about filling in a few, barely-there holes next to his feet. I'd rather paint up some gray plastic!

I like your Drong alot. Did you give him a longbeard shield?
I really like your high king although imo the mini could be improved by finishing the base.
Your airforce looks great.
Regarding special characters.... technically they are Dogs of War but there is the other Drong (the long one) and his slayer pirates along with Malai and his Goblin Hewer.
Also possibly the most famous dwarf of all... Gotrek! It's possible you have painted him and i missed it.

Thanks, GMW! I'll admit, I don't know a whole lot about these older characters since I only started seriously playing at the beginning of 8th edition (around the time the O&G book came out). I do like the models though, and with GW abandoning Fantasy, in my subconscious, I feel more free to include as many of these old characters in my repertoire of available special characters. Especially the Dwarven characters. Their fluff is just so much more interesting to me. Just personal preference I suppose.
As for the other characters, I'll probably be adding a few here and there as I get my hands on some off eBay, but right now, I don't have a Malai (or his Goblin Hewer), a Gotrek (though, I do have the one acting as a shieldbearer with Bugman, holding up the White Dwarf), or the other Drong. I'm sure there are some other's in there as well, but right now that's all I have.

Tip for the eyes (Rich taught me this one). Get a black micron pen, they are fine tipped pens. All you have to do for the black dot in the eye is press the tip into the eye area. With a brush you get the black paint on your brush and as you press the brush into the eye area and the hairs push together making it difficult to place the black dot where you really want it. The tip of the micron pen is rigid so you don't have this problem.

Yeah, that's actually what I do. I just messed up on the white portion of the eye. I will typically paint on the flesh color, then a wash (for shadow), then apply the white dot in the eye, then the black iris dot with the Micron pen (005 works best) and then come back with the original flesh tone, pushing it up to the edges of the eye to achieve the shape I want. The problem on this Dwarf was that the helmet came down right above his eye. Oh, well.

Burlok Damminson is awesome. Nice coolers. The model is so cool, much better than his son...
