These big guys are getting towards being finished... I feel like I've been on them for ages however I am trying to tell myself - they are large models with lots of flesh - and going easy on my self depreciation! Just really the bases, and touching up a bit and they'll be finished.

Cheers bois, appreciate the nice comments- putting in a bit of extra effort in to the Shaggoths, though they follow a similar scheme of course đ

So in between painting marauder horsemen I've been working on getting these together. And honestly, I'm please with how they came together. Lots of fiddling and blu-tac to test out positions on their bases and a minimal amount of conversion work gets a nice big unit of chaos warriors, ranked up base to base (with carefully painted numbers on the bottom so I can rank them up!) A close up of the command models - the champion now holds his mace at rest surveying his enemy, the horn blower carries the horn of the chaos marauder horsemen with the strap removed and the banner is a warrior with brass rod and the banner from the new chosen. Overall I'm pleased - some look out of place, the back rank are VERY animated (grrrrr wave your shields at them!!) But they fit well and no doubt they'll look better painted!

I have found that when it comes to models with a needlessly exaggerated footprint, multi-basing does wonders. Placing 2 or 3 of them on a 50x50 base that you'd then put in the rear ranks will allow you to field them freely without having to worry about them not ranking up

So, a biiiiiiiiiig photo dump. This is essentially 2.5k painted now... They are 'tabletop' standard only, with no bells and whistles and nothing to taxing on the painting... But they are done! Boring but first then. 10 Marauder Horsemen with shield. Basic, to the point, brown, brown and more brown The warriors are done too, they look better painted than they did in bare plastic, pleased with these overall And a close up of the command group Now, characters - this is a BSB, converted from Khagra's box - basic conversion, but I like him Now a mounted mage, I love this model..there's something about the skulls everywhere, and the beautifully sculpted steed head. It's just a lovely model... Especially love the little familiar hanging on for dear life And then, the grand master of the force, Archaon. My scheme isn't 'out there', it's not technically advanced, it doesn't show the model off to it's best. But the model is really nice, and the paint scheme tidy enough. So there... We still have more stuff. A couple of spawn and a DP for eye of the gods rolls, another 10 hounds, some other bits and bobs. But otherwise, 2,5k army complete!

I really like the steely metal look on the warriors, very cruel and appropriate!
