It all looks great! I agree, your horses look exceptionally good. Really like the white you added to the bridges of their noses. Nice touch! (I may have to steal that in the future....) Love the Light Wizard Acolyte! He'll make a great distinction between the lv4 and the supporting lv1 Light Council members. Now...the important stuff. Congratulations on the new house! I take it that the slab is where you storage/game room/mancave is going to be? Have you already built it or is it still slab? Good luck finding paint that won't cost you $300+. 🙄 thanks mottdon. and that slab is still just that, a slab of opportunity. but one can dream.

18Mar2023 Well, every effort wasn’t enough. It has been a year since the last update. It’s not that I don’t paint, it just evidently is too much of a hurdle to drag miniatures from the deepest storage, fumble around on a camera with mixed results and then fumble around on a computer some more. But, I have a plan. More on that in a bit. First, to get back in your good graces, here is a unit of classic pistoliers. Two of their numbers are Avatars of War models. Full metal horses with terrible gaps that served as a reminder for me that not all was good in the old days. But, I really like them now. On to the meat of this update, how do make myself update this project log more often. Here is my cunning plan: Locally, we have recently started an escalation type league where we paint some miniatures each month and then meet up and play monthly with our growing forces. As a twist, we start out with 1500pts of a main army and paint up/grow an allied contingent. In my case the main army is Dwarfs and the allies….the Empire. So, that means I will paint ~200pts of Empire each month and, they won’t be sequestered away in deep storage because I need them for gaming each month. How hard can it then be to snap a few pictures every month? Maybe even snap a few more from the game? Let’s see how that plan survives contact with reality. Now, month 1 was February but it was a bit different to give everyone a chance to get organized. No allies, just the main army and a baggage cart. Here is what I brought: (minus the photo-bombing Wight King of course. Also, I left off the second cart, that pony had an easy day) Sadly, no pictures from the game (it even was such a glorious victory for the doughty dwarfs). This was before I hatched my plan. But, here are more baggage trains. So, if all goes to plan, there will be an update at the end of the month…fingers crossed.

The pastel blue really goes with the yellow leather. Really like the colour scheme!

Welcome back to your thread and the baggage trains are great.
Best of luck to your 'cunning plan'.

cheers guys, appreciate the comments. -------------------------------------------------------------
2Apr2023 Follow-through?!? You better believe it. Let’s go. Our Tale of X Painters is in month 2. We painted up 300 pts of Allies, in my case Empire. I burned most of my points on an awesome Lord. It’s all about fashion statements. By hiding his dagger behind a shield, the mad count became a slightly less mad count: Graf Rudiger von Hintenrum At the moment he is leading 14 brave halberdiers. All models from the good old days. Let the first guy on the left in the first picture be number 1, all the way to the last guy on the right in the third picture be number 14. Here is a chance to show that you’ve spent way too much time pouring over miniature catalogs as a kid (especially if you can answer question three) 1) Which of these guys are all plastic? 2) Which of the metal guys are out-of-the-blister halberdiers? 3) What were the non-halberdiers metals when they came out of the blister? Let’s give this a week.

1)Which of these guys are all plastic?
4/7/8/10/11/12/14. All 6th edition, but
- 7 & 12 have a 7th edition head - 8 was originally a handgunner - 10 was originally a standard bearer
2) Which of the metal guys are out-of-the-blister halberdiers? 1/2/3/5
3) What were the non-halberdiers metals when they came out of the blister? 6 & 9 were originally classic cannon crew (9 with classic standard bearer head); 13 was originally a classic crossbowman

Fidelis is clearly the star student in these parts. All correct EXCEPT: 3 is a command model obviously. Might count as a halberdier in some jurisdictions?
9 is no headswap. This is a mortar crew man, just replaced the scraper tool with a halberd head. (pretty clear that 6&9 started out from the same model at GW back in the good old hand-sculpting days)

Awesome paintjob. Especially love the name "von Hintenrum" And, he even lived up to his name in the form of a glorious rear charge into some minotaurs in his first game: The first proper alliance game was a bit of an uphill struggle, I fought a mighty Chaos Legion and promptly on turn 1 the gates of hell opened in the magic phase and spit out a bonus unit of 10 bloodletters. In the end I clawed back my way to a draw. Best scene of the match: Look at the Auld Alliance seeing off a jugger lord of the ancient times (couldn't catch him after he broke but the organ gun sorted things out). Next game for our little Tale of X Gamers is next week, furiously painting at the moment, halberdiers and knights. Unit champion is doneL
