From the Mystical Forests of Tzaan-Kumi, A Warhammer Fantasy Battles Army for Eight Edition
Theme: A Beastmen Army from Cathay/Nippon
Theme: A Beastmen Army from Cathay/Nippon
--:: This accompanies an Empire Army I created a few years ago, "The Empire of the Sword & Sun" ::--
--:: A Creative Imagining, using the standard Army Book Rules for The Empire ::--
The idea is basically the same, just a different Army Book. Japanese mythology has things like the Tengu. Well, I am going to find and/or convert some miniatures that look and feel like Tengu, and use them as harpies. Then, I am going to find something that looks like a huge Tengu Lord and use it as a Demon Prince. Lather, rinse, repeat.
I have talked about this for a few weeks now on other threads. Rubber is hitting the road.
First, I just need to say that HOLY COW, there is a lot of inspiration for this army:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Chinese_legendary_creatures
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Japanese_legendary_creatures
That is a lot of source material.
Here is what I know right now:
--The army will be heavily orange and yellow in color theme, very similar to my Empire of the Sword & Sun
--The army will be heavily skewed towards Beastmen, but will use the Legions of Chaos rules from Glottkin
--The army will be heavily skewed towards Tzeentch, as Tzeentch has some great flavor and themes for what I am trying to accomplish
I am not sure if this will be a standard "Evil" army. I am debating if the Wondrous and Fantastical Creatures would and might actually be benevolent and come to the rescue of their Human allies i.e. the Empire. In the "Old World", the Beastmen and The Empire are sworn enemies. I am going to noodle on that paradigm while I am painting and assembling. Right now, I am leaning towards a Chaos/Beastmen army, rules wise but with fluff that they are (in D&D terms) Chaotic Good in alignment.
So much TBD.
