LOL I know what you mean knoffles. I've been trying to suppress this with my Skaven, telling myself that "they're just rank and file, no one's going to see it". It's really hard because I'm a bit of a perfectionist. It's always taken me a long time to finish my models because of this.
Your engineer looks great! Yellow and blue are a good color combo!

As am I! Plus, after I pull models off in a game, they never go back in the same order, so I need all of them to be of the same quality.

Yellow is a notoriously hard color to master. For me, it always consumes the most time to make it right (or actually not). So good luck and just post your pics.

Yellow really is a color where you have to take your time and do multiple thin coats. I think this is why it takes so long to paint. Whenever I paint yellow I discovered a new technique that I like to use now. I airbrush the yellow onto the model, then ink the model and then use my "multiple thin coats" method to go back over the model and touch up in the original yellow where I don't want the ink to be. I then do my absolute best to not have to touch the yellow on the model again. I used this method with my Cygnar. On my Varanguard (couple pages back) the fleeing Empire soldier was done with a brush, but I probably ended up doing around 6 coats before the yellow was solid enough and I was happy with it. Here's what my Cygnar look like (Warmachine for those that aren't familiar):

That's quite the involved method, but I bet it yields great results!
I haven't really done a ton of vast yellow surfaces, but whenever I do use yellow, I usually go for a more dirty, gritty look. I usually start with Baneblade Brown (I'm not sure exactly why they call it "Brown" seeing as it's more of a yellow color). Then I wash it with a brown wash. I find that it makes a smooth transition between yellows and gives the color lots of depth. Then I go back and brybrush the area with a lighter shade of yellow (whatever shade is closer to the look your going for) to make it pop and re-emphasize that the color is indeed yellow. This works great on hair!

I'll have to remember that when it comes time to paint my empire. Gonna have to have some blondies in the group!

I tend to work up from something like bubonic brown when I do yellow. I don't tend to use the actual yellow-y yellows that often. Maybe just Averland Sunset with a bit of white in it as a final highlight

Lookin' great! I love the trident! Thank you. I actually finished painting Mason Vergor last night. He has no base as he will eventually be glued/blutacked to his mount. "Cordell"

LOL. Not gonna make my pledge this month I've got a rafting/fishing trip starting Thursday and the prep is going to keep me occupied this week. Mostly though I blame the discovery of Horizon Zero Dawn for PS4 for my lack of painted models this month. That game is legit.
