Naitsabes looks nice! What colors do you use for the wooden barrel? As a WE player I always look for wood patterns

Looking good Naitsabes! What size round base is that?

cheers, guys.
this is a 65mm round. Bases do improve the look of war machines, don't they? I just left some off in case the cannons need to be put on city walls.
the brown is P3 Bootstrap Leather with copious Agrax Earthshade washes (the key to making any brown look good, or red, or yellow...)

I will try to complete at least 1 unit/model this month. Aim low and hopefully overshoot Also Ill assemble this guy for my chaos dwarfs. Well... I've been busy as all hell.....but there is still some time left! I did however complete my assembly mission. He need some gaps filled before undercoating but I'd consider him assembled. My first ever Mantic resin model. Ive had a couple of their metal models but never resin before. He comes with a second blind head but it looks atrocious. Hardly worthwhile as a bit but I'll keep it anyway... you never know when these things will come in handy.

Awesuuuuuuum!!!! I LOVE the idea of big, monstrous Rock (Obsidian in your case) Golems for the Dwarves! That guy is one of the best Golem models I've seen. I can't wait to see how you paint him up! I just may have to get one too! Can you give a pic beside a Dwarf model? I'd love to see an actual size comparison. (You never can tell with box art. Sometimes their perspectives are intentionally skewed.)

looks like the cannon ball he took in the gut just made him more angry: two fists in the air!
oh, and: any progress is still progress, keep at it grandmasterwang.

I decided to change the pose to make it look a bit more fearsome and different from the stock. Currently I'm tossing up between a 50/50 or Chariot base size. Its quite forward leaning so can't stand up without a base. I've got the treeman in the picture to stop the golem from falling. Haven't decided on a theme yet but will paint it more earthy than black I think. As you can see King Belegar can fit entirely under its arm so its a sizeable miniature. Quite staunch looking so it goes well with dwarfs. I'm planning on being able to use it with both my dwarfs and chaos dwarfs. Mantic also makes an earth elemental model which is based off this one. I think it has the same torso but different head/arms. I'm considering that one now as this has impressed me. I'd say either/both are worth considering! Hope these pictures are of use. First he is leaning back a bit so looks taller than he actually is. Second picture shows how big the arms are compared to a dwarf.

I suppose it'd depend on how you plan on using him with regards to your base size. If you are planning on using him as a Monster, then yeah, I'd go with a 50x100 Chariot base. But if you plan on getting 3+ of these type of guys and using them as a Monstrous Infantry unit, then maybe a 40x60? I does look rather large though.
I've always thought it'd be cool if Dwarves had a subset of Gnomes (like gnoblars to Ogres) that could be included to "summon" Earth Elementals like this guy. Once the Gnome is killed, the Earth Elementals start to crumble as with TK Hierophants. They could have some special rules that go along with them like, "The Gnome must be within 6" of the summoned unit or else the summoned unit will be subject to Rampaging Monster rules" (or whatever its called when the monster goes berserk and starts attacking friend and foe - whoever's closest). Lol. Maybe one day.
*EDIT* - I just noticed that they offer an "Lesser Obsidian Golem" unit that looks like Monstrous Infantry.

Gnomes summoning Elementals... that sounds very DnD/Forgotten Realms This Greater Obsidian Golem barely fits on the 50 wide Chariot base. I read up on the Monstrous Infantry versions Mantic sells. Apparently people struggled to rank them up on 40*40 as they have the same forward leaning overhang problem of the big fella. First 3 are ok but trying to do 2 ranks is a nightmare with the back rank all punching the front guys I'm in with a chance to complete my August pledge.......

congrats, strutsagett. Those are some dynamic eagles. Certainly a job well done from this distance (which is about as close as you'll ever get during a game).

There is a gnome wizard in the Darktides campaign that some of the EEFL'ers are involved in that could be the basis for this. im ignoring that he was named fizban, as there is only one fizban and that is the Kender name for the god paladin.

I've left it until practically the last day, I made some progress on my pledges but still didn't base those Dire Wolves... The progress on the ethereal bits of the Black Coach And I made a a decent start on the remaining Chaos Dwarf Axemen & command. Got the main basecoating done. All in all not too bad-a-month by my standards
