Even though it feels like it’s 70 degrees outside in Rochester, NY right now… it really is December. It’s gonna be wet and snowy and cold soon enough and that may force us indoors. It gets dark at 5:00 PM, which means (for me at least) available indoor hobby time increases! The 2-year-old is asleep, the wife is watching some network show. And me?
I hope to be at my painting desk working on my NEW Winter 2017-2018 army project.
Swamp Elfs
??
Yeah yea, I know. I don’t like the name yet. Swamp Elf. Marsh Elf. Bog Elf. Bayou Elf. I dunno. As I paint and convert and start building the army, I hope a more elegant name will come to me. Once I start crafting some fluff, I am sure that will help too.
Swamp Elf (Winter 2017-2018 army project) **Final Name TBD
06/18/2018 "The Druids of Direbog"

I have a whole pile of Games Workshop miniatures from 1995 on. Yup, all sorts of Elves: --About 50 of the classic solid plastic unipose Wood Elf Archer --About 30 Waywatchers and Scouts, mixed --2 Solid Metal Treeman miniatures (that need some serious pinning) --10 Dryads of one sort, 10 Dryads of another sort + A bunch of convertible High Elf plastics: Swordmasters, Silver Helms. I think I have 3 Griffon Riders Can I make a unit of Griffon Riders? They'll need to be mutated Swamp Griffons by any count. I also got motivated and went to CMON or not today. They always have a deep deep discount on closeout stuff between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Got all these for $30: ~Fenyrll Resin Miniatures: Female Thieves (3) ~Fenyrll Resin Miniatures: Female Adventurers (3) ~Gamezone Miniatures: Chaos - Chaos Sorcerer I (1) ~Gamezone Miniatures: Elves - Elf Nobles III (3) ~Elf King with Spear (1) ~Felric, Anatomist and Skeletal Assitant ~Gamezone Miniatures: Chaos - Chaos Sorcerer II, The Skinned (1) ~Gamezone Miniatures: Elves - Elf Nobles I (3) [plus these 2 for my other armies] **For my Chinese / Japanese The Empire army~Hell Dorado - Peasants 1 $2.60 ~Wandering Actor (1) 1 $3.00 That purchase will give me 100+ Elves to start painting this weekend! But, actually, before I start the next project, I need to document my most recent project. The Beastmen – eefl.freeforums.net/thread/391/monsters-mystical-forests-tzaan-kumi?An army is never 100% done, but that one is 98% done. I had almost everything painted. The tournament a few weeks ago gave me that kick in the butt. Needed to finish off the Harpies and Minotaurs and Screamers. Did that this past weekend. Need to rebuild my good lightbox and get out the good DLSR camera. Take about 100 pictures and post them.

Repeating Bolt Thrower I remember someone using an Ogre with a big gun as a canon so Shrek with a huge crossbow should work.

I saw those black sloth elves a little while back. They're pretty awesome I'd love to see your take on them.
That's part of the draw of Dark Elves to me; I've always been more of a fan of the dark/gothic aspect of elves rather than the Tolkien esque light elves / fantasy high elves with the harps and the lutes and the singing and dancing, that just doesn't appeal to me.
I'll keep my eyes posted!

Wood Elf Rule Inquiries: Please Team EEFL, read below. Any help or insight you can offer would be great
Q1: I am using a Treeman in a Siege game. I decide I want to use his “Tree Whack” attack on a gate or tower or section of wall. What happens?
Q2: I am using a Level 4 LIFE caster. Can anyone point me to the ‘Throne of Vines” table, i.e. increased & improved effects.
Q3: I am using Wardancers. I charge, I choose a dance. We fight a combat; the Dancers beat the enemy unit and pursue into a new combat – yet to be fought this turn. Yay, 2 for 1. Am I locked in to doing the same dance in that second combat? I think I am.
Q4: Many of my units have the special rule “Forest Strider”. Assume I have a unit of infantry that is a forest strider. Apparently, I don’t take any dangerous terrain tests for “Forests”. But when do forests ever even cause (trigger?) a dangerous terrain test for infantry?
Q5a: A Great Stag is an available mount for some characters. What size base does a Glade Lord on a Great Stag go on? 50mm x 100mm?
Q5b: I am using a Glade Lord on a Great Stag. How do I randomize incoming hit or attacks? Or spells? Or cannon shots? Are there any EEFL approved rules for a combined profile, with regards to T and W and armor saves? I seem to remember the End Times had combined profile rules for many character-on-monster and/or character-on-mount combinations.

Q1: unsure Q2: Q3: Can't help as I don't have the book and don't know the wording, although if it says "at the beginning of each round of combat" then you would get to choose when in combat with unit 2 as well Q4: There is a type of magical forest (venom thicket?) that forces dangerous terrain checks when ANYONE moves through it Q5a: unsure; personally I'd put him on a 50x50 base, as most monstrous cavalry mounts (pegasi, daemonic mounts, unicorns, etc...) are on that size base. Q5b: If the stag is a monstrous beast (don't have rules) then their profiles are combined into a single profile, with the highest T and W of the two models being used, ward saves and armor saves are applied to the entire model (whatever armor save he has +1 for being mounted; he becomes "monstrous cavalry" (pg 105). Think of him as a cavalry model - except if his mount has a higher T or W value then you use those instead. They each attack individually in combat but otherwise are treated as being a single model. If the stag is a monster then you would use the rules for "Ridden Monsters" found on pg 105 of the rulebook.

As for Q3, yes, you are correct in assuming that you'd use the same dance that they were using before. It says, "At the start of each round of close combat..." but it also says, "the effect...lasts until the end of that turn...", meaning until your close combat phase is over. Now, this won't even be a problem unless you overrun into a combat that is already engaged by another unit, because that is the only time they'd be able to attack. Otherwise, you'd have to wait until your opponent's close combat turn, at which time, you'd choose another dance.
Q5: 50x50 base
Q5b: Great Stags do have an entire stat line and are Monstrous Beasts.

Q4: There is a type of magical forest (venom thicket?) that forces dangerous terrain checks when ANYONE moves through it Ah ha! This is indeed a relevant scenario.
