Well, I finally finished my Ogre BSB! Took a while... But he's done! I also managed to finish my Firebelly while I was at it and made tons of progress on other Ogre models as well! My Ogre army is really taking shape quickly! Nice! Those ogres really took the blue chill pill 😊

that is a good looking BSB indeed. I like the model, not overburdened with details, just a great pose and the right amount of 'stuff'.

Thanks! I thought about giving him a net to hold in his left hand (like a Gladiator) but then I thought, "Where the heck am I going to find a convincing net?!?" Lol!

I hate that there is only 7 of us participating in this painting section when there are 423 members of this site. That's really quite sad. I don't know what or how to get more people interested in sharing there hobby. Any ideas guys?

I think a more realistic pool of active forum members is the 44 people who signed in over the last week. Not everyone is into warhammer for the painting/modeling though (yes, they are missing out). Don't know what we could do to get the other 37 in here. Maybe open it up to 'other than fantasy' more explicitly? Personally, I am not too into painted space marines or British paratroopers or whatnot, even well-painted ones. But, I can skip those post and others might be less picky when it comes to eye candy.
also of note: the painting section is actually among the most active sections. Life is just slower in an OOP game.

I'm not quite sure where this idea that this is an "only fantasy models" thread comes from. It doesn't say so in the title, and I have on numerous occasions, told people that they can post whatever they want here. I've even done a few 40K models, though I simply don't play or paint that game much at all. I honestly don't care what goes up here because it's all about inspiration and motivation for me. I get that other people here are doing as I do and just painting Fantasy models, because that's what they're into, and that's cool, but nobody should feel excluded here.
And, yes, this IS one of the more active sections of this site, which I find quite sad seeing as how there are so few of us keeping this section going.
Perhaps it's the imaging thing that is keeping people away. Is it too difficult to upload pics of your models? Is it a user interface? Is it the aesthetic of the site? If we all contribute our ideas, preferences and theories, maybe we can come to a good solution that we can all work toward.

Yeah, I agree but don't think we can do much more than keep painting and motivate each other. With the game being oop and forum replaced by social streams :/ All I know is that people stil play it but in smaller groups and spread out. I think my gaming group just increased by one more player ill ask him next time to join here. He is a good painter.

Awesome! We should all be trying to bring others in our playing groups into this site. Share the love and whatnot. If each of us just brought one member of our playing group into this forum, we'd have 14 members contributing! That would be awesome! And we can also personally keep them motivated!
That's a great idea, strutsagget!
Just out of curiosity, what other social streams are effecting us do you think, and how do we compensate for appropriately?

mottdonWell, I now facebook for sure have a lot of groups similar to this page. Especially painting and selling. But for me, I like the different structure and searching the forum gives us. I also now that a lot of people don't want to share their minis on the internet as they don't think they are good enough. There is a lot of amazing artists out there, and when I put my mini next to theirs it's like a Picasso next to kids painting 😊 But I love the support of this forum even thou I know I will never reach golden demon standard 😊

Never say never.
When I look at the first models that I painted, (which at the time, I thought were decent) and I look at them now, it makes me realize just how far I've come as a painter. Just participating in threads such as this one, will give you new ideas and ways of looking at your models that never occurred to you before. It all will eventually start working it's way into your painting. Yeah, not all of us will reach Golden Deamon utopia, but the skills gained are definitely worth it!
I also think that most people underrate themselves as painters. I've seen some guys go from literally just painting an entire model red with flesh colored skin, to producing some pieces that I'm proud of. Anyone can do it if they just try.

I'm not quite sure where this idea that this is an "only fantasy models" thread comes from. ..probably from the forum title? I have squeezed a 'fine, I'll do it' out of my local gaming buddy. so...we might be up to eight!

But I’m ok with that and everyone here is really helpful and supportive of efforts no matter the level of ability. In terms of getting club members onto the forum, most of them barely use the club forum and very few post pics of their armies/models. If anything is used it is the club FB page but that is mainly for finding games.

Excellent effort, strutsagget. I like the embankment in particular how it goes from the brown right at the water through different shades of green.
However, I hate to break it to you but, you are NOT done! The river must span the board. It's the first rule of rivers!

But I think if I do less turns the river will be another half a piece and will do for now also I can do the river sideways on the table.
