Wow! That looks incredible! I'm lovin' the multi-colored skin on the beasts of burden! The blue flames look great too! I can't wait to see more!

Agreed that the variation in skin tone is inspiring. Was it done with washes/glaze?

Thanks guys! Yeah the skin was done with glazes and washes  I paint up the skin the color I want, and then I use glaze before I use a flesh wash on the skin. In this case, I used green glaze first, then blue (a few coat of it), then a purple wash at the end for the extremities. The skin is then washed normally, going a bit over the green but not all the way. |

Very nice. Apart from the flesh tones and flames I also like how you did the greys, metals and wood. A solid piece of work.

Just a touch of critique, the only think I might take another look at is the smoke rising from the coals. It's a little too white. I'd probably make it much darker and avoid white altogether. Go with grays and almost-blacks. Nuln Oil might be your friend here, but only on the raised portions. I'd try to go from a lighter gray to very, very dark gray on the raised surfaces. As always, take with a grain of salt! It's your model and you do what you're comfortable with! Great job with the writing in the book and the tonality transition on the tusks! |

The smoke do have more gray on the model, but I don't have a great setting for taking pictures (poor light, phone camera, etc). Light colors always appears more bland on pictures. Also some parts might be painted a bit simpler as I try to go for a more table-top paintjob for my Chaos, I want them painted and not spend ages on the models  Not always working, but I do simplify a few things here and there |

Haven't really though about the bases for now. Standard base for me would be to drybrush the sand a bit, then add grass, and paint the trim black. Nothing original but works well. We'll see, maybe I'll get some inspiration later on |
