I hear you on the badly painted models, and totally agree with you that someone is trying to show off their mastery of technique rather than highlighting the model. Poor color choices. 100 ways they could've made those models pop more, instead of looking so washed out and pale.
I really WANT to like these, I'm a big fan of Avatars of War, but I'm just having SUCH a hard time justifying a reason for them in Warhammer. Okay, the Centaur Chieftain is certainly a closer fit, but who takes Centaurs? I can't say that I've EVER seen a unit in person. Worth spending money on?
At one point, I considered making a WoC army completely of Barbarians, but naked men from a frozen tundra just seemed so stupid to me. More like the jungles of Lustria. I don't know. Again, my money's more valuable than those.

I have a unit of 10 centigors that have never made it to a game and ive played a lot of beastmen games. Centigors are expensive for what they are in an army where you need to take big expensive blocks or lots of mages to play competitively. Thr whole 7th ed beastmen army book points and rules didnt get enough attention to detail as it should of before release(and this is coming from someone who loves beastmen) .

The more I look at that Barbarian, the more it bothers me. Particularly the muscles. Might be largely due to the paint job, but he looks like his skin was flayed off. Mostly in his pecks and thighs. The muscle definition is just a tad too much. The arm pit veins look awkward too.
The positioning of both weapons is weird and unwieldy as well. Is he using a Great Weapon or two hand weapons? I keep looking at the handle of his axe thinking, "That's gonna hit his legs before anything else." It'd look so much better if he was holding it closer to the bottom with the axe head tilted back. It'd make him appear more dynamic, as though he was following up his sword swing with an axe chop, in a spinning attack. I could believe that.
As for the Centaur, he looks like he's tipping forward or just finished kicking at something behind him with his hoofs. I don't believe that he's charging forward into battle, axe held back ready to chop down on some unfortunate enemy in his path. I think that's what they were going for, just missed the "feel".

For what it's worth I use Centigors occasionally (rarely) but as I'm quite WYSIWYG I always use the full command options as that is what the stock models look like. We play them that if you pay for full command (35 points ouch) they come with throwing axes included for free and have stubborn. They have done ok overall but that's with them being 160 points for the full command group of 5 with throwing axes and stubborn so a bit of a buff compared with the standard. The 'free' throwing axes make them a bit more palatable and useful.

Yeah but Razorgor are awesome and I always use at least one or 2 in pretty much every list so I also like to use the nice looking Centigor models from time to time. Centigor are also the only possible way Beastmen are able to get a couple of Strength 5 shooting attacks in so there is some additional (limited) utility for them beyond what the Razorgor offer.

new Hobgoblin Beserker en.avatars-of-war.com/products/hobgoblin-berserker Better paint-job on this model at least. It seems Avatars of War are releasing all the models no-one is asking for, yet their Dwarf Warriors kit that everyone clamours for... not happening.
