Lovely crisp painting on the Black Guard. And I agree, both the plastics and old metals look great.

Menghil Manhide's Manflayers complete: I could have painted one side of the "hides" as being bloody - i.e. freshly flensed, but I came up with that idea too late. That's 53 models completed this month, and I'm up to 83/105 for my "end of the year" challenge. I've already started on 22 Witch Elves (+ 1 Sister of Slaughter, from the Underworlds team) for the final part of my goal. I hate painting these models, but I reckon I should be able to get them done before the end of December.

Yes, though I don't know why I didn't pick them up years before when I was buying the bulk of my Dark Elves. They're decent models and better than the regular Dark Elf Shades.
Wish they'd put some more Dogs of War on made to order (or anything WFB - it's been a while).

22 Witch Elves: I don't enjoy painting these models, but they look cool. The two Shadespire models in particular (front corners) are stunning. Shadespire Sister of Slaughter: That's pretty much all my Dark Elf infantry completed now. Just some chariots, shrines, harpies, monsters and a lot of characters to go.

Cracking job mate. I really like the look of that, especially the scales on the medusa and the detail on the back of the mirror (something Iād not seen before). With regards to Riotville, I was speaking to Mike the other week and if restrictions every ease off, he was considering running it later in the year instead.

That looks so good it's making me want to move my cauldron to the top of my painting queue. Did it seem like a particularly time consuming model to paint?

That looks so good it's making me want to move my cauldron to the top of my painting queue. Did it seem like a particularly time consuming model to paint? It wasn't as bad as I'd thought. So long as you have it in sub-assemblies it shouldn't take too long. The underframe is easy enough, if you paint it all metal - wash/drybrush does the job, and spraying it silver first made it super easy. If you were painting it as mainly wood and edge highlighting... good luck. The stairs are really time-consuming to then paint if you've made the mistake of sticking them onto the chassis. If you haven't, they shouldn't be too bad, though edge highlighting it takes a while. Then you've just got the statue/cauldron (if you left them separate) - both of which are easy, the two "crew" who are relatively simple, and whatever bits you have on top - the mirror or statue, and character or Medusa. The Medusa takes a while to do, but isn't too bad. It can't have been that annoying to paint, as I've moved straight onto my Cauldron: I've got two of the actual "cauldrons" as you can see in the photo, one with Hellebron on, and a second which I'll stick the regular Death Hag on, so I can change between the two. I'm intending to paint the statue the same way as GW did in this:

When the 1 painted model comes out like that I'd say you are winning!

Statue done, starting on the stairs: The photography isn't great, and doesn't capture the depth of the bloody "flesh" on the statue - it's got more to it than appears.
