I've never liked the Black Ark Fleetmaster model - there are so many things wrong with it. The stupid sword leg, the impractical jawbone gorget, and the silly long hair. Of course, I bought one during the Dark Elf 8th edition release and built it, but I couldn't motivate myself to paint it. Here's my attempt at fixing the model: It still needs some green stuff work on it, but I'm much happier with it now. It's no longer got the Fleetmaster's two hand weapons, but they can get shields as magic items so the load-out is possible. Those are half-painted Dark Riders in the background that I'm hoping to finish off over the weekend.

Looks MUCH better that way.
I never bothered getting one of the stock models. I just stuck a much more elaborately helmeted head on a corsair, gave him gold armor, and called it a day.

I like the kracken shield and something about your conversion screams arrogance.

I like him, not my favorite head but great work overall. If I did not know I would think it was the real kit.

Thanks. It's not my favourite Dark Elf head either, but I've used all my favourite ones too many times The one used in my profile pic here is my favourite head (even though it's from the HE Shadow Warriors kit) and would have fitted really well on the model, but I've got it on two DE characters already. The regular Corsair heads would have worked well, but I wanted something a bit different for their leader. As GMW says, this face has boss levels of arrogance and disdainfulness, appropriate for a hundreds of years old Druchii pirate captain.

I like the kracken shield and something about your conversion screams arrogance. It's the expression on that head combined with the position of the sword arm. "I'm so good I don't even need to be on guard; I'll just rest my sword on my shoulder and let you approach..."

Dark Riders complete: They were surprisingly easy to paint. I've got another unit of 5 to do, with full command, but they'll have to wait as they're not on the Riotville list. I'm technically two models from completing my Riotville army, but one of them is the Bloodwrack Shrine, which will take ages. I've also got my Sorceress on Dark Steed to get complete. I'm on a roll with my Dark Elves, so I'm going to keep going with them until something else distracts me.

I finished off this classic Assassin, the 2nd of 7 GW Assassins I own. They're characterful little models and both fun and easy to paint. I've got primed my Bloodwrack Shrine, a second unit of Dark Riders, 5 Doomfire Warlocks, 5 Harpies (the new AoS ones), Hellebron, Death Hag, Sorceress on Dark Steed, and 3 Cold One mounted characters (not my Malus conversion yet). I think it'll be the Dark Riders, Warlocks and Sorceress next.

Classic assassin looks great. The red face mask is a nice choice.

Very nice painting on the assassin and like your conversion for the fleetmaster as well.
