If it's gw bases you probably will have extra space as their cavalry bases always have the wrong width with at least 2-3mm. So if you buy a MDF / perfect size movement tray you will see where you can have extra space between them anyway. I sometimes build up a layer or two with cork sheets on some of the models just to make them easier to rank up. The unit looks awesome and frightening. Do they have base strength 5 and plus two with lances? Yep, as Sedge mentioned....add in WS 5 and solid initiative and the can butcher most monsters in a turn. Including the champion, 16 Strength 7 attacks is just brutal vs things like Aracknaroks, Terrorgheists, Stonehorns etc hitting on 3's. On the charge they live up to the lore for sure! When they absolutely obliterate something on the charge it makes you feel better about their exorbitant cost. Each death of just 1 knight is felt keenly. Probably one of my top 20 favourite units in the game actually all things considered. Martial Vampire Knights.... what's not to love?

Surely he was a Khorne follower in life.
Looks like a bad mofo who collects skulls like I collect miniatures.

The rider is the one off the dragon/terrorgeist model I’m guessing but what model is the horse from?

It's a Chaos Knight steed - the skeletal head armour works perfectly for VCs.

He looks great! I like the Chaos mount for a Barded Knightmare. Good choice. Not really sure about the horns coming out of his back, but he still looks great.

The horns are from the original model (the Vampire Lord from the Zombie Dragon) - I think they frame the model quite well when he's on the Zombie Dragon, but possibly look a little busy/overlarge when he's on the horse.
Now I'm looking at the photos, I realise I didn't bronze the trim on his pauldrons. I think I might have to fix that tonight, otherwise it'll bother me forever.

It's barely visible in the photo, but this is him with the trim of the pauldrons painted bronze, plus the smudge on the reins fixed:

wow. great looking model. Undead are high on my list of potential next army. But, I don't like the silk cloak type vampires and their goofy fangs. This guy however looks like he is actually going to war.

The Vampire Lord looks great, I think you've done a really good job with the bone effects on the horse's skull. The Chaos horse also turned out surprisingly well, I tried taking that Vampire rider from the Terrorgheist kit and putting him on foot, but he just has an awkward stance for that, you seem to have found a very effective way to use him, though.

Nearly two years since I've done anything with my Undead - disgraceful! I got the big Ogre army box for Christmas, which includes a Giant. I already have a Giant, and while it's a great kit, I don't really want a second. So when I was putting this new Giant's body together, my mind started to wander... maybe I could make something better? I had to travel far and wide - deep into the Southlands to steal the head of a Stegadon ancient from under the noses of the lizard-people, navigate the mists surrounding Ulthuan to plunder a Griffon eyrie, signed on with the Stir River Patrol to investigate the regenerative qualities of Troll flesh, cross the Dark Lands to the Mountains of Mourn to clip a tail from a petrified Stonehorn, and even venture north to the very Chaos Wastes themselves for a sample of daemon flesh. Finally I had the pieces I needed to complete my masterpiece. Fell rituals, and the darkest of magicks followed as I stitched and chained these parts to my Giant carcass. Finally, the beast was complete, so I built myself a throne of skulls on its broad shoulders, and raised the creature - my Abyssal Terror: I know Abyssal Terrors are crap - it's just a really fun concept for a model, making something out of lots of different monsters. The guy on top is a spare wraith from the new Black Coach kit, masquerading as a Master Necromancer. I used the chains to cover joins because I don't enjoy working with green stuf, though I have a few small gaps to fill (e.g. around the tail). It probably won't be until 2025 until I paint him though!
