Bone Giant
Undead Giants are a rare sight, as before their extinction at the hands of the Ogre Kingdoms, their forebears the Sky Titans were careful to bury their kin with the necessary rituals to protect their tombs from desecration. Since then, the scattered remnants of the Giants most often end their lives disappearing down the gullets of equally fearsome, yet somewhat more intelligent, beasts – their bones digested along with the rest of them.
However, some few Giants can be found buried in the barrows of the early kings of the Old World, having fallen long before Sigmar united the tribes of the Empire. A shunned offshoot of the Sky Titans, these fell creatures bargained their power with the barbarian tribes in exchange for sacrifices, and are often buried alongside the lines of kings they served. These rare finds are sought after by ambitious Necromancers, who will travel across continents on the merest rumour of these burial sites, eager to add their prowess to their gathering forces.
On the battlefield, the Bone Giants spread terror in their wake, pulverising infantry formations without breaking stride, as they advance implacably upon the largest, most fearsome opponents. Some remnants of their former spirit seems to remain in them, for they appear to take malicious delight in defiling the pure of heart – no few Bretonnian Damsels have met their end at the bony hands of a skeletal Giant. Those sensible warriors that flee to fight another day will hear echoes of a deep, sepulchral laugh echoing through their minds should they ever take to the battlefield again, and are often driven to insanity.
Some Bone Giants were “upgraded” by their former masters to carry crude War Platforms on their mighty shoulders, and continue to do so, now crewed with a complement of Skeleton Archers. These Giants carry Bale Lanterns that exude a sickly green corpse-light over the battlefield, illuminating the souls of the living, so they can be picked off all the easier.

A Bone Giant may be included in any Vampire Counts or Undead Legions army. Its points cost counts towards the army’s Rare allowance.
Points: 170
Troop Type: Monster
Unit Size: 1
Equipment (Bone Giant): Heavy armour and Hand weapon
Equipment (Skeleton Archers): Bow
Options:
A Bone Giant may be upgraded to have one of the below:
Special Rules: Large Target, Terror, Undead
War Platform: If the Bone Giant is upgraded with a War platform, it is ridden by five Skeleton Archers. Like a chariot, the monster and the “crew” have their own characteristics, but are treated as a single model.
When moving, the model always uses the Movement characteristic of the Bone Giant. The Bone Giant uses its own Weapon Skill, Strength, Initiative and Attacks characteristics when it attacks.
All hits upon the Bone Giant are resolved using the monster’s Toughness and Wounds, and use its save. In combat, enemy models attacking the Bone Giant roll against the monster’s Weapon Skill when rolling To Hit.
Unless the model is engaged in combat or fleeing*, all five Skeleton Archers can shoot in the Shooting phase (even if the unit has marched, reformed or failed a charge), and must direct their attacks against the same unit. They use their own Ballistic Skill for this.
If the Bone Giant is engaged in combat (even if it charged), then during the Combat phase, the Skeleton Archers may shoot against a single unit in base contact with the Bone Giant, at their Initiative step. This is instead of their normal close combat attacks, as they are too high up to otherwise attack. Wounds generated in this fashion contribute to combat resolution.
Apart from these exceptions, a Bone Giant is treated as a monster in all respects, as described in the Warhammer rulebook.
Bale Lantern: The Skeleton Archers never count any negative penalties To Hit when shooting, regardless of the source of the modifier.
