Clearly shows there's a market for what they're discontinuing!
Does anyone know if they're just rebranding with odd new names and sticking round bases in? Are war machines and artillery even a thing in AoS?

From previous behaviour, I'd think that what is still available (e.g. Empire State Troops, Demigryph Knights, Steam Tank, General on Griffon) will remain available - but be reboxed with round bases, often in larger boxes (e.g. 20 State Troops rather than 10, but less £ per model).
That which is "Last Chance to Buy" will be gone for good. They had previously said there'd be advance warning of this stuff going, so I was expecting more notice than what happened today plus better stock of that stuff they're clearing out, but I now think it's unlikely any of these will return.
Having said that, they did drop a few kits at the WFB -> AoS purge that returned later on (e.g. the plastic Lizardmen Saurus Oldblood/Scar-Vet).

I hope they do keep them on in some capacity.
Do they not do Empire knights anymore?

I hope they do keep them on in some capacity. Do they not do Empire knights anymore? The knights were discontinued quite a while back. It still pisses me off that they said they’d give notice but a good 5-6 of the kits were no longer available before they even sent out emails or posted up the notification on the website. I don’t know why I’m surprised but I expected better from them.

I know they wanted a blank canvas for AoS but Empire Knights were one of the most vanilla units in the game and could easily be adapted to any set! I suppose the next question is does anyone know any decent/sensibly priced Knight alternatives?

Vanilla is part of the reason they've gone - same with common Orcs and regular Goblins. They're keeping the more unique kits like the Demigryphs and factions like the Night Goblins. Regular fantasy is being cut down on.
Also, the Empire Knights kit was showing its age even back in 8th - they're from 2000, I think, and there's not much still going from then.
I'm in the same boat as you in that I'll be needing some knights for my eventual Empire/Border Princes army, and I'm not aware of any good fantasy scale alternatives.

Cheers mate!
Sedge - if you're using true scale rather than heroic, the Warlord gendarmes are nice miniatures but the horses are all really skinny so will stick out in a heroic scale army.
Knoffles - what is your view on MOM miniatures? Have you used them before?

Knoffles - what is your view on MOM miniatures? Have you used them before? I have but only for the dwarf golems (the monster one and monstrous infantry size). I’ve not bought any ‘normal’ models. Their service was great and I found the models to be more than adequate but they aren’t very detailed (not something that worried me). I’ve heard others critique their casting resin quality as not great but they are dirt cheap compared to most other companies so I wouldn’t be expecting GW levels.

I knew this day would come, but it still rankles to see it happen. Then again better this way, it'll finally give me a sense of closure... Here's to hoping GW stops making enticing models next, otherwise They'll still be that crazy ex-gf one keeps going back to

Honestly...Empire militia are the only kit I'm really upset about not being around anymore, but there's just so many alternatives out there that it's not that big a deal MINIATURES wise; it's the bits and the conversion potentials that are lost that have me so sad.
In my opinion scibor has the dwarfs covered and to a point avatars of war, even though I don't care for pretty much anything avatars makes, not to mention they're notoriously slow at fulfilling orders. That could have changed though in the last...like 6 years or so since I've ordered from them.
Wood elves seem to be the ones that lose the most here and that's too bad.
