Hey, I am in the MD area. Would anyone be willing to let me borrow their rulebook Friday or Saturday so I can familiarize myself with the rules before I come in Sunday? Also, if anyone has the VC army book I'd be willing tobpurchase it.

As you can see, this is Bob Ross. He was talking about finding a group on FB, so naturally Saniles pointed him this way. He plans on coming Sunday as well.

I might know a guy who might sell his VC book. I’m confident he doesn’t play 8th anymore. The trick is getting him to respond to messages

Are we doing 2k this Sunday? Try and shorten games up a bit? Was planning to bring T&T as well in case we end up with odd numbers.

I have a 2k list ready, and would be down for that. And some T&T

bobross Another way to help familiarize yourself with the basics of the rules is to look up battle report videos on YouTube. While they don’t always get the rules right 100% of the time (depends on the video) they are usually helpful and entertaining. I always enjoyed the Old World Wars battle reports on miniwargaming YouTube channel.

bobross also.... some dudes down in Richmond started a channel recently called Squarehammer. It’s good man. They do well with the rules and it’s very very current stuff.

I was able to download the AB online, I still want a hard copy. I have been watching Old world wars Batreps since I started playing AOS two years ago, so I am familiar with some of the rules. It's army building I don't really know anything about. I have basically any VC unit I want, as I have 7k points of Death I can just flop over to square bases. I live in Anne Arundel County.

Sunday, can someone bing some extra movement trays, or point me where to get them?

Kings of War movement trays are decent and not too expensive. They can also be made modular. I’ll see what I can bring Sunday.
As far as army comp, you can probably post your army list on the forum in the Army List section for feedback. I’m sure there are plenty of VC players out there with advice to give.
Generally our games aren’t very competitive. Several of us just like to use our favorite models/units even if it’s not the most competitive. For example, the Bretonnia army I am bringing Sunday will probably do poorly against VC because they are unbreakable and I’m skimping on magic. But I really want to bring my Grail Knights to the table because I haven’t used them in forever.
BTW we try to get to G&S when they open at 11.

I just replied on the Facebook post but it seems like you've found a good spot. We have half a dozen people who live in/outside DC who started up recently, let me know if you want a Discord invite but it's a big server, not just WFB. If you ever want to come down to Silver Spring I'm always happy to host on the weekend. (Just have room for one table sadly.) For movement trays I really like shogunminiatures.com/shogunminjaturesmetalbases.html if you magnitize your models, cheap and work well (with magnets) As far as list building a lot of it is playing with stuff to find what you like. There are some resources out there such as 1d4chan.org/wiki/Warhammer/Tactics/8th_Edition/Vampire_Counts or imperatorguides.blogspot.com/p/8th-edition-warhammer-fantasy-tactica.html which talk about what makes certain units good/bad, both are kinda focused on competitive play so if there is a unit you like but it is considered "bad" I wouldn't worry too much and just try it out. As noted above most people playing 8th in 2020 are not bringing or looking to face cut throat tournament lists. VC are not the easiest army to figure out as they're driven by characters/magic/special rules. This is a good read to start - imperatorguides.blogspot.com/2013/07/vampire-counts-tactica-army-special.html. To build a list you should really be thinking about your general and your plan for magic. Those can inform where you focus other parts of the list.

I have list ideas, I am just looking for the rules regarding army list building, like how many core units/poimts do I need? How many specials/rares am I allowed.
