BRB changes
Forming Units: Units in Warhammer that are not fast cavalry or skirmishers cannot form up in less than a 5 wide frontage unless the unit consists of less than 5 models. ie. You cannot form up a unit of 10 into 1 model front and 10 deep. The only way to do this is if you have 5 or less models.
Leadership Tests: LD test are always taken from the highest LD in the unit or as measured from the General’s Inspiring Presence range. This LD is then modified accordingly based on whatever affects the unit is suffering at the time. Example: A HE unit champion within 12” of the High Elf Prince is targeted by Spirit Leech – you test on LD 10. That unit champion is now under Doom and Darkness effect (-3LD) therefore he is now LD 7 for the test.
Line of Sight: Warhammer 8.5 IWFB now uses VLOS. (Virtual Line of Sight) Hills and Trees are now infinitely high. Everything else blocks LOS to whatever they physically block line of sight to.
1” apart: It is now perfectly fine to move within 1” of impassable terrain/buildings/etc.. You still cannot move within 1” of an enemy unit without charging it or a friendly unit. This just speeds up play and everyone ignores it anyway.
Virtual Pivots: There are virtual pivots now. Simply pick up your model(s) or movement tray full of models and put them back onto the table with the center being in the same spot and in the new facing and formation that you wish.
Magical Vortex: These use templates and therefore models affected by them are allowed Look out Sir rolls if that model is allowed to take one. Ie. A hero in a unit of 20 models is hit by a Purple Sun spell. The hero gets a Look out Sir roll – even if all 20 models (including the hero) are hit by the template.
Look out Sir rolls and Magic Spells: If there is only 1 Hero or Lord in a unit and that unit is affected by Final Transmutation or Dwellers Below then that Hero or Lord is allowed a Look out Sir roll as per the normal rules of Look Out Sir. The unit must still be large enough to qualify for a Look out Sir roll for that Hero or Lord to qualify for the protection. This includes any mount/chariot/etc.. the character is on. A Grey Seer on a Screaming Bell will get a LOS roll as will the Screaming Bell he is on. A Lord or Hero on his own, regardless of distance to another unit, is not eligible for a Look out Sir roll. I am on the fence about this one. Other comp packs have this – maybe leave this to TOs to decide.
Ambush: Units with the ambush rule may choose to use the ambush rule during the deployment phase. They may also set up as per the normal deployment rules.
Essential for the Wood Elf army.
Steadfast: If a unit suffers from Disruption then it is not Steadfast anymore.
The signature change of 8th edition moving forward.
Lords: Up to 25% of your points can be spent on Lords
Heroes: Up to 25% of your points can be spent on Heroes.
