Knoffles thanks for working on this Thread. I find it very useful. It was interesting your point of view regarding bulls vs guts. keep up the good work

Regarding Bulls...I would like to ask you if you tested them with ironfist. Is it a better option the additional hand weapon or the shield can be useful and make the unit more resilient?

Hey Jukei, I didn't write this. It's a chap called Adam from the Dice Abide site. Most of these guides are compilations put together from numerous sites and authors. The aim was to ensure we captured as much info as possible, especially with so many of the old forums going under. I've been slow putting this one together and normally would have put this in the opening post

Gents - after months of procrastination with this, I've as good as finished. I might squeeze in one or two more tactics articles but as of now, it's open for feedback.

Good timing, as I've dropped a couple of hints to my wife recently that Christmas would be a good time for me to start an Ogre Kingdoms army I'm working through reading it all - one point from the bit on Tyrants - "As he costs just over 300pts fully kitted up if you are playing with a 25% allowance, you could also take a slaughtermaster but it would mean forgoing your BSB. " - there's a 25% allowance for Lords and the same again for Heroes. So if you can fit a Tyrant and Slaughtermaster in your Lords allowance, it's got no effect on your Heroes allocation which you'll still have. Though obviously an army that loaded with characters may struggle to fit in enough regular units.

Do you have the FW experimental rules for Rhinox Riders? I think they're sufficiently semi-official to be worth including in the article. They're insanely good, especially when taken as single models, where they basically act like a chariot that can march, with a 2+ or 1+ save, Stubborn, and a ridiculous number of high-strength attacks even after charging.

I originally only had the 6/7th edition rules and knew they were the wrong ones. I found the 8th ones in the EEFL thread but forgot to update it. I’ll try and remember to do it at some point this week, at the in laws, once I get down there tomorrow

Great articles. I just played a very unconventional list against Vampire Counts and nearly tabled them by turn 6 (just a vamp lord and terrorgheist left). I used only close combat and wizards. Firebelly, 2 slaughtermasters and a BSB. I had 2 units of bulls (8 and 9 strong) and 2 units of Ironguts (5 and 6 strong). Everything had full command. I usually just use bulls as they are cheap.and effective (cheap for ogres) but man the Ironguts held it down. Those S6 attacks were brutal and I really should have used them better (taking out hero's and Lord's) but all the CC in the game the ogres came out on top. One spectator friend (who doesn't play) mentioned that maybe I shouldn't of charged one unit as they could have been sandwiched but the unit massacred the unit (crypt ghouls) and another unit diswayed a flank charge. ASL can be a big downside though.

Just something silly I've noticed: the post #14 seems to think that taking the Berserker Sword on the Hunter riding a Stonehorn means that the unit won't panic. Unless you are intending to lose combat a lot: the Stonehorn is ALREADY Frenzied and thus the model is Immune to Psychology regardless.
Interestingly; it does make me realise that the Berserker Sword effectively grants Immune to Psychology to any Rider and Monster/Chariot Mount who aren't already Frenzied.
