Yes, but it would eat into the 8th edition community. There is a good chance that we would lose a significant portion of our community on this site for instance. Even if you hated it, some people will like it because it would be GW supported game. Just a further fracturing of the community. Now if it turned out to be awesome, that is would be fantastic, but I've had my heart broken too many times by GW. I don't think it'll hurt the community that much, especially if the bases are the same. If it turns out to be fantastic, it won't really hurt the community as everyone will move over to 9th edition. If it turns out to be horrible, it won't really hurt the community as most people will remain with 8th. If it turns out to be somewhere in between fantastic and horrible, it could very well split the community in two.

I'll hold off my excitement until I see a new Bretonnian AB. It's been a long wait!

I want to go on the record to say that even if this new iteration of WFB turns out to be the best thing ever heralded by the game gods, even if spurs the rebirths of the Websites of Old such as Dakka and Warseer...
I'm sticking to EEFL as my forum of choice. I'll never abandon such a great community that stuck together during the dark years of exile!

I don't see anything in that PR stunt that makes me think proper rank-n-flank will be back. Happy to eat my hat though in a few years. And, as others have said, even if the rules are terrible, the miniatures should be good and more fitting to the old world lore.

I’m hoping for some of the books being along the lines of turmakhan as it’s gorgeous. Does anyone play 30k here? What are the imperial armour books like? Do they compare to the FW fantasy offerings?

Oh and apologies now for the profanity but I’m so fucking pumped about this. I can’t see this being bad in any which way. Sure the rules might be a regression or simplification but having it a supported system will bring more new players back to the game and that’s never a bad thing. One thing you can almost guarantee is that with the new GW you will get faqs and errata so that is great. Here’s just hoping they support all the existing models. I do feel a bit cynical about the release time of the announcement. Do you think they are trying to overshadow the KOW 3rd edition perchance? I do like the reaction vid Mantic released. On FB they tagged in with: we don’t destroy worlds, we build them. 😂 youtu.be/mKN5awPhbIs

I just want to say.....
I KNEW IT!!!!
I predicted the End Times, and I knew they'd bring Fantasy back! Their new shiny AoS toy just had to have their time in the daylight.
After so many spawnings of new models from people trying to fill the gap, after the success of the video games and the HUGE backlash from loyalists like us, they couldn't ignore the GIANT hole in their money pockets any longer!

All the perseverance of this forum and its members seem to have pay off hugely. Time to dust off my movement trays (I confess I was not persevere enough due to zero opponent and one can't play against oneself infinitely)

It'll be interesting to see how many bandwagon jumpers will come back, acting like they never left in the first place. Lol! I feel SO vindicated right now. How many of those YouTubers argued that "Fantasy is DEAD! GET OVER IT!". Whatcha bet they start making fantasy content again. I just wanna say... media.giphy.com/media/l49JNC3SiBy9PIW1G/giphy.gif
