So this is my first foray into doing a painting type blog. Its a little daunting because there are some absolutely superb painters around here and I dont really rate myself as very exceptional. I havent painted anything in years (since 8th went away basically) so bear with me. But im hoping this keeps me motivated to finish out this army. Also, i plan on using the Warhamm Armies Project's 8th edition Bret book as my base and what ill be playing. Anyway lets get started heres a pic from I think about a month ago after I assembled most of my future army

Niceeeee. Theres plenty there to keep you busy! Dont worry about painting it and showing it on here. Painting is the part I enjoy least of the hobby, although I do pick up some tips from the other guys here!

Im going to try to update weekly, so here is the first of the units, the bretonnian bowmen. I used fireforge medieval archers mixed in with some parts from the empire free company, empire archers, frostgrave soldiers and frostgrave cultist sets

Im working on this unit and it should be done next week. I forgot how long painting a horde of 50 takes. These guys are almost done (attached picture is a few weeks old). Using fireforge foot sergents mixed with pieces from the bretonnian men at arms kit, a couple of pieces from the perry foot knights, empire halberdier, fireforge albion knights and a head or two from the victrix greek slingers

Great start! (And glad to have you back, btw!) If those archers are any measure of things to come, then that'll be one great looking army!
Keeping a thread like this of your work is a great way to log the progress of your army and growth of your painting skills. It's fun to look back and see what you did (and when). I often go back through and find myself saying, "No way! Has it really been that long?!?". 😂

I definitely feel like im spending eay too much time on these peasants, but im just mentally preparing myself for the knights. It was also interesting to see how well paints aged (or didnt in one company's case).

I wouldn’t worry about painting standards, some of the guys here are excellent and some (like me) not as much, however they are appreciative of anyone who goes through the effort of painting models and will always offer help and advice if wanted (it’s defintiely helped upped my game). However I think you were being too modest. The units look good and I really like your basing.

As a fellow Bretonnian Lord, I like what I see. Very friendly folks on this forum. Never hesitate to share, regardless of your painting caliber. I look forward to watching your thread.

UPDATE: the peasants are done (for now). Moving on to the trebuchet (single model and 3 crew yes please!). Still dreading starting the knights.

Are you giving each knight their own colours?
