Came back to them this year when excitement for WFB picked back up with TOW announcement. First thing I finished was building and painting 5 of my chariots. Got a great deal on a lot of chariots which makes be very happy as they're super cool, and one of the more effective units in the army. Gorthor in particular was a steal, $20 for a new in box copy at the NoVA Open.

Between last year and this I've changed how I'm painting these. Those chariots are 80% contrast paint. I underpaint everything black->white, then do contrast for almost everything. The non-contrast parts are the skin and metallics. Biggest change from the early beasts is the skin, I switched from some red inks to using Bugman's Glow darkened with a bit of brown contrast paint, I'm happy with the results. Oh, horns and bones are also base coat plus wash/contrast rather than just contrast. Here is a WIP of some of the characters i'm doing for the army, maybe a hundred infantry to do but wanted to get some characters in so at least the leaders of the army will look good. Can see the underpainting here, it's pretty heavy.

Very nice, I also do a lot of zenithal undercoat, but mostly so I can see the details as they pop. I have always wonder how good it is with contrasts. Looks great and look forward too see your progress.

Love seeing another beastmen player. The models look good. I think when I finally get round to painting my Orcs I’ll finally give contract a go.

Looks great and look forward too see your progress. I think it helps with contrast, I don't see how to avoid this so uh... it really ups the contrast. Can get even better results with some drybrushing whites or brush painting whites before contrast but well, time vs effort.

First models of the new year. The giant was actually mostly finished in 2018 but decided to finally finish him up. Also glad to get the BSB ready. I'm loving these photos of your Beastmen army. Great paint scheme for the Jabberslythe. Thanks, Jabber was so much fun to paint.
