Hello everybody. What are peoples opinions of the warriors 7th army book vs warriors 8th army book being played in 8th edition games. I always felt that the 8th AB really pushed people towards armies that, well dont include a lot of foot troops and instead more flying monsters. The 7th ed one had less flying circus and more of a lean to tough (though mostly slower) traditional WOC armies

wasn't that the time when 50 khorne marauders with great weapons was the hot stuff? It's been a while, but I don't think I have fond memories.

Just agree with your opponent which one to use ahead of time. Beauty of this game is that if your opponent and you both agree that battles should take place on Mars and that all infantry are equipped with jetpacks then it is so. I'm a big fan of WoC and enjoyed the 7th book more than the 8th for what it's worth. WoC. Meh. Didn't like 'em then, don't like 'em now. Really...I didn't know that because you've NEVER said anything like this before...

The 7th edition book has 2 things going for it, cheap marauder hordes (too cheap imo) & the Tzeentch Chosen bomb which goes with a warshrine to get a 3+ warsdave. If you like marauders then feel free to ask your opponent, I myself wouldn´t mind as you miss out on the crazy tzeentch characters, the daemon prince & the Chimeras.
The 8th edition book is better but it overpriced marauders so there´s no use in them, they´re not a good anvil (warriors do it better) & they can´t be a decent horde with loads of attacks as they doubled in price from 7th to 8th (while the 5 points / model + mark in 7th was too cheap for a GW wielding marauder, the 11 points / model in 8th is too expensive, they probably should´ve made the GW cost 1 point less & the base marauder be 1 point cheaper as well to get the best balance).

Personally, I'll almost always go with newer books over older ones purely because the newer ones have more unit options.

I prefer the newer book.
I hated the broken marauders and chosen of the old book.
The newer book has cool options like Gorebeast chariot and we houserule the broken 8th WOC Daemon Prince to be the same as the DOC one.
I occasionally use the 8th Edition rules for Kholek and they do an adequate job of representing the ancient beast.
Dragon Ogres also if i recall got a nice bump in the 8th book....and who doesn't love Dragon Ogres?
