Do we think they're things due to make a return!? Well, they did say new models, and I know everyone was shocked and disappointed when they didn't make new knight models when they released the Empire 8th book, so seems to me, that'd be at the top of the list. Plus, with the new woC Knights models they recently released, seems like they have their model formula down. I think we were starting to assume that with the 3 years before new game GW would release new models prior to release so let's see what they offer!

A little worried this is being don't by the forge world team. Would really hate for the new Fantasy to be a forge world game as that would probably price me out of the game (assuming the old models won't be compatible)

I don't think it's be too much of a stretch to say that you won't need fw models to play. People didn't when 8th was out either!

This isn't 8th edition. And this isn't nessisarily Warhammer Fantasy.

Yeah, it's the old world, which we've all been lead to believe will be like WFB.
All I was saying was: "I wouldn't worry about being priced out, as its never been a necessity to use exact models".

Some 3rd party models I think are nicer than GW ones!

Honestly, I don't care as much about if they do or do not have good, applicable models, as much as that they bring the Old World back in a playable fashion similar to 8th. That'll see a lot of players getting back into the game and giving us more opponents. If that picks up, the models will follow. GW will meet market demand.

The key phrase being 'led to believe'. We rather expected the successor to 8th Edition WFB to be like WFB as well.

I mean they'll need some new or re-released models. Most (all?) armies are missing some pretty important units in the current GW range and I hardly expect GW will have people rely on eBay for them. (At least for some armies, I expect the release will see more support/models for some armies than others, some armies may need to rely on eBay for a while until they get a release)

I think one thing we need to remember is that all along they've said they're returning to the Old World. Not necessarily to WFB. There were hints of square bases and the like, but to what extent will this be full regiments? Unknown. If we're going back to the War of the 3 Emperors, will all units make it back? Lots of unknowns at this point in re: to lore/timeline, models and rules.

I get the feeling that this WFB: Old World is going to be a modified 8th edition rules set but focused on a specific time period - perhaps the time of the 3 emperors. And the new models will be focused on that.

Given that they teased new models, my gut feeling is April for a couple of new images of them and then updates every 2 months with two armies released in December in time for xmas

I think we will start getting minis well before then that are compatible with AoS and 8th ed to keep the hype up. I think 3 years will be the rule set rather than minis
