"In search of stolen treasure from dynasties past, a Liche Priest has brought an army back from the sands of Khemri to the edge of Athel Loren. A Warsphinx, Necropolis Knights that slither from underground, and into existence, and even a Tomb Scorpion that follows suit and carries the remains of a past Liche Priest, can be seen through tall trees. An evil though has kept watch. A fanatical branchwraith does not like her forest disturbed. Least of all by the undead. She cares not as to whether the marching dead will enter the forest. In fact, she’d prefer they wouldn’t, but her mind was made up. She’ll attack at dawn." Seems a nice game! What is your verdict on the dryads horde. For me they always get shoot to pieces. Thanks for reading! I think the jury is still out, but 3 things I was able to sort of determine: - They really only work against certain armies. I fear that T4, 4+ armor saves (think Dwarfs, Chaos, Lizards, etc) they wouldn't quite work at all. On the other hand, 3 ranks, yield upwards of 40 attacks, so that's a lot of attacks. They destroyed the chariot and archers. Now, granted: Skeleton chariot and archers are not quite the barometer... But their lack of AP makes them really only suitable against opponents with poor armor saves. - I think if you play with Drycha, or a Spellweaver with the Moonstone, they can work nicely as they appear in forests and close the gap. - Alternatively, you can place down your wood, deem it a venom thicket and park your horde there. If you out-shoot your opponent (Wood Elves many times will), then they'll come to you and you'll have 40 attacks with poison. A branchwraith parked in the unit with Earthblood for the 5+ can do wonders too. So yes, I agree that if you put them out in the open by themselves, they won't do much. I don't think they function as normal horde, like White Lions, or what not, in that you go out seeking the enemy in the open field. Instead, there are ways to A) increase their survivability with a branchwraith, b) make them a strong anchor in a forest or C) have them jump forests or emerge from a different forest with Drycha or Moonstone.

Yes my impression is pretty one-sided at facing s4,t4 opponents that at-least have a 5+ or better AS. Maybe they will work better when skaven players picks up the rats again as he is currently playing Lizzie’s.

LAst year we played recorded a Lizards vs Wood Elves battle report, and it featured a Dryad Horde vs normal Saurus Warrior unit. Now, that game, the Dryads didn't stay in the forest and went toe-to-toe in open ground vs Saurus. A mistake. But they actually won the first round thanks to hatred and a few bad rolls for the Lizard player. Then... things went badly. I have actually started to experiment with crown of command unicorn weaver for just that scenario. Interesting! As long as you don't get cannoned, but then again, it would be an odd target potentially. So yea - let me know how it works out!

Nice win for the woodies. How long do your games tend to take to play? I’m curious as I’ve not played that size since 4/5th edition.

Two armies I play, so I couldn't resist. Some unlucky rolls from the Tomb Kings in a few instances. I liked the sideline interview. I think you had a nice balance of detail to narrative.

These can be rather fast, but we were rusty on the Woodies, so it took a bit longer. Usually done in under 2 hours of casual play. But could easily finish in an hour too, I think.

I'll probably check your site often and read more of your Battle Reports. They are very clear and readable. I also like the humor element. Is your blog on Wordpress?
