30 Bull Centaurs ๐ฎ You're sitting on a goldmine. Lovely big hats Don't know if Kevinc has put together any Astrogoth rules Yeah I lucked out with most of my Chaos Dwarfs. I got most back when you could buy metal, from a GW employee that needed money.

From the cold land of Narggaroth, today we have Dark Elves. Way back in the day I wanted to have a Dark Elves army, it never really materialized though. A few years back I came across a good deal on a large 5th ed stash of Dark Elves and jumped on it. The 5th ed style was always my favorite so most of the models are from then. What I have painted so far. These spearmen are great. Being uniformed they look very menacing and paint up easily. I have two units of these polystyrene crossbowmen. They aren't seen as much now days but still fun. I love the Dark Rider models but didn't think the punck horses fit with them. I like the idea of Dark Elves using different giant lizards for different jobs and it give my Dark Elves reason to fight my son's Lizardmen. So in short for my army skinny lizard = horse. So continuing on that we have fat lizards. Fat lizard = cold one. When I was gathering this army I didn't come across many deals on the 5th ed Cold One Knights, but loads of folks where unloading the 6th ed ones. It turned out well in the end because they help distinguish between the dark riders and Knights. I need to go back and hit them some Nuln Oil but they'll do for now. Even though I mostly prefer the 5th ed models, there is something solid about these 6th ed Black Guard. These guys just scream ELITE to me. The champion is just a simple conversion to Mengel Manflayer. These guys are probably my favorite unit in the army. Some Shades with Great Weapons, just the old Mengel's Manflayers. My general is usually those great 5th edition Sorcerer and his apprentice is a High Elf defector. The guy on the left is usually my model for Kouron of the Black Guard. He is the body of the Manflayer musician, the head of a 5th Cold One Knight General, and the arm from a 40k Incubi. The BSB on the right is just a 6th ed Executioner standard with a metal Sea Dragon Cloak added. GW never made a Hydra model I liked. I found this guy at Michael's Craft Store among the toys. He is kn a slightly bigger base which is more to the opponent's advantage but I think it's worth it for a model I like. For the paint job I was inspired by Snake Mountain from the old He-Man cartoon. Lastly this was a simple conversion for a Bolt Thrower crewman. The body is a 4th ed Dark Elf and the head from a 5th. He originally has a weird man bun thing, that looked ridiculous, much better with a helmet. I have a lot more in the bits drawer for these guys so I will get back to them in time. I started collecting these guys when the 7th ed book came out, so I never bought or converted anything for Doom Fire Warlocks, Medusaa, or a Kharibdyss and probably never will. I don't care for what these bring to the army and they just aren't my cup of tea. I always liked to think of the Dark Elves more like a well drilled Roman Legion rather than a bunch of crazed half naked punkers. I have a unit of Witches and a Cauldron (both 5th) but they are low priority for me. I have a ton more of the metal spears and metal crossbowmen, a few chariots, and more knight. When I get back to these guys I will focus there.

They look fabulous!
I especially like your Hydra! Snake Mountain for the win! (I think I still have mine in my attic somewhere!)

Today I share the pox ridden followers of Nurgle. This is a relatively new army for me. I started collecting them last year because I wanted to try something different from my other forces. I really do have fun with Deamons. I actually like the goofy randomness of their magic phase. I also love the fact that they can be used in Fantasy and 40K. The backbone of the army is 105 Plaguebearers. I cam across some amazing deals and was happy to have all metal. Ah Nurglings, will I ever need 20 bases of them, who knows? But it was fun to pain them and I plan to use them in 40K as well , so I can see a giant swarm of them holding up my son's Space Marines. Beasts of Nurgle are just lots of fun. I like to have a bigger unit of them and have one or two on their own to use as redirects or go war machine hunting. If anyone else out there has put these old 5th ed ones together, you feel my pain. It's basically a metal triangle with nothing to hold it together, ugh. The model on far left is actually an old Citadel Shambling Horde model from the 80s. He fits in nicely, but always reminds me of the Trash Heap from Fraggle Rock. This is one of my favorite models in the army. It took a while to find this guy on the interweb in good shape. I actually had to order this one from France. It was worth it though because he was in pristine unpainted and unassembled condition when he arrived, and YES he's lead. I love the bike of Nurglings standing on each other. For Heralds I wanted models that stood out from the regular plaguebearers. I notice in a lot of Deamon armies I see that the characters blend in too much with the basic troops. The model on the left is my BSB. I hadn't planned on having another on foot until I played a game where I turned my buddy's Firebelly into a Herald, so BOOM, I wanted to make sure I had a model to cover that the next time. This is another of my favs. He is one of the few resin models in the army. He was an extra Great Unclean One that came in a batch I ordered online. I started converting him to be a Demon Prine, that's why he has the wings and armour, though most of the time I just use him as my Great Unclean One. The mace was an extra bit from an Ogre Tyrant and the helmet is some bits from a Stonehorn kit. Sculpting the eye was a lot of fun. This big fellow is my Soul Grinder. Though I can't take all the credit for him. He cam partially assembled in a big lot of Beastmen I bought on Ebay. I think the person was trying to make a Jabberslyth. It was originally a metal Brain Bug model from the Starship Troopers line with some wings and legs added. I repositioned the legs glued the wings on him and sculpted the big eye in the center. I think he came out really cool. Even if a Soul Grinder can't fly I think the wings help him look menacing. Though with those stumpy back legs maybe he needs the wings just to get his basic movement. So that's it for the Nurgle. I plan to add some Rot Flies to them at some point. I don't care for the GW design but I have some fun proxy models in mind for them. I occasionally field some Furies but I will save them for when I share my Khorne Daemons. Stay safe everyone.

That's a great nurgle army and I like the variation of minis in it.
Those plague bearer blocks are nasty.
I really like your Soul Grinder conversion and the eye. Due to size/width of the mini I think it makes a better Soul Grinder than Jabberslythe. I can definitely see the wings just helping it move at the swift Movement 8(?) Of the soul grinder. That eye adds a lot as you mentioned.

Loving the showcase, especially the old dark elves. I used to love the marauder minis DEs. However you completely distracted me by mentioning Fraggle Rock and Iโm now contemplating a dwarf ranger character called uncle travelling Matt

Last month I painted up my Vampire Counts army for the SquarHammer painting pledge. I've had most of this army sitting around for a few years, it was nice to finish them up and get them ready to hit the table. This isn't everything I have for VC but it's about 4K and a good start with plenty of options for playing average size games. Here is the bulk of the army. The shambling back bone of the army, 150 zombies some unit fillers in there that can also be used for other things. Most of lists I build have two units of 60 so that leaves 60 for raising. A close up of some zombies. I tried to keep the paint scheme simple and let the Minwax do it's thing. A close up of the unit fillers. I like the hands popping up out of the ground. Some Skeletons. These guys were easy to paint. Not a great pic, the miniature setting must have been off. My Graveguard. Once again I put some old Battle Master models to good use. Battle Masters is suck a good source of models, many uses. I made them with a mixture of weapons so I can use them as either Great Weapons or sword & board. I also think it looks better for undead. Some more close ups and some zombies popping up in their ranks. A vampire leading my Black Knights. I didn't realize until I was taking the pictures that I forgot to give them a banner, so I need to go back and do that. The old Red Duke model is my mounted Vampire. Close up of some Dire Wolves again making good use of those Battle Master models. I don't like the Crypt Horror models so I decided to go with Werewolves instead. Much better than giant ghouls in my opinion. To go along with that thought, this giant Zombie Werewolf stalking through the graveyard is my Varghulf. Again I think the miniature setting was off on my camera. I like this guy and I think his half rotting look goes well for the Varghulf's Regeneration ability. The Aristocracy of the Knight! I prefer the classic Hammer Horror look for my Vampires over the weird half animal pseudo Nosferatu look of the modern GW stuff. A Lahmian Vampire for a hero level or possibly a stand in for Isabella. The original Vlad model usually. A Vampire BSB with some modifications. I didn't like the hands hanging off the banner and the wings on the helmet were too much so they had to go.. I had a spare Manfred model so I converted on foot. He is much more survivable in a unit. These guys missed class picture day with the rest of the army. Some fell bats. I'v got some more of these and Fell Bats are not all that great so 4 will be fine for now. Originally I wasn't planning on having a Terrorgheist in the army, mostly because I can't stand the giant bat thing model from GW. However once I saw this guy from Reaper I had to find a place for him. I tried to make it look like he flew up to a statue in a graveyard and knock it over for a perch. "He's only mostly dead... mostly dead is also slightly alive!" So I believe that's about it for now with the VC. I have some more Skeletons, Fell Bats, and characters for them. I have some necromancers but I like vampires better๐งโโ๏ธ. I like that they can handle themselves in combat and cast, besides it't a Vampire Counts army, not a necromancer army ๐
