And here is a high level narrative of the battles I fought and events that took place in this most recent meeting. Note that this is limited to events and battles that impacted the dwarves.
Dark Tidings Warhammer Campaign Narrative from the Perspective of the Dwarven Grudge Eraser’s Clan By Dannytee
Campaign Year 3 – Summer (Played March 2016)
Rumors were spreading around the Old World of a land filled with treasure and artifacts of great power. King Rodin had heard of the Land of the Dead before but it was of little interest to him until now. As the dwarf empire has been at all-out war for years, many of his abled bodied dwarves have been summoned to the battle field. Many of these dwarves were previously working in mines or the dwarven forges. As such production of gold and other precious metals has dropped off in the past years. Rodin decided to send an exploratory army to the Land of the Dead to see what this territory contained and if the dwarves could claim a vast treasure for themselves. So Erik Wildstrider was sent off on a dwarven ironclad ship in command of an exploratory force of dwarves. Erik and his banner immediately began to search the lands for treasure and within days discovered a minor tomb containing an immaculate scepter ordained with all manner of gems.
In early summer the dwarven banners repositioned and marched across the lands of the Old World and the Land of the Dead but did not engage in combat. As summer moved on so did the dwarven armies. Rodin had brought the majority of his strength to bear down upon the goblin controlled castle located just north of the Sea Fortress of Barak Varr. His armies had attacked this fortress once before but the dwarves were not successful in capturing the castle. So Rodin was determined to drive the goblin filth out of his rightful lands. A bitter siege ensued. The goblins were numerous, filling up the ramparts of the castle walls and towers to the brim! The dwarven warmachines Giant Slayer (cannon), Old Faithful (cannon), Horde Thinner (stone thrower) and Bombin’s Grudge Thrower (stone thrower) pummeled the castle towers and wall. Several tower sections crumbled to nothing from the warmachine’s attacks. Rodin led the Steadfast Standers (a unit of hammerers) toward the castle walls riding atop a mighty siege tower. Rodin and his body guard defeated scores of goblins but for every goblin killed another took its place. Ungrim, Incarnate of Fire also led The Last Slayers of Karak Kardin to the castle walls. Ungrim and the slayers assaulted the castle walls via ladders. The slayers lopped off many goblin heads but again the goblins were too numerous. In the end the dwarves fought valiantly slaying many goblins but it was not enough. There were simply too many goblins defending this castle and Rodin and his army were forced to withdrawal.
Simultaneous with the dwarven assault Archaon led a force against the dwarven castle protecting the eastern approaches of Rodin’s empire. The forces of chaos had attacked this castle many times before but the dwarves were always able to hold out. The dwarves grimly lined the castle walls and prepared themselves for another siege. Archaon personally accompanied this banner in the assault. The forces of chaos had brought two siege towers to battle this day. In one a frenzied unit of Wrathmongers approached the walls and in the second a frenzied unit of Chaos Warriors approached. Upon reaching the castle walls theses frenzied warriors delivered a flurry of attacks that would eventually clear multiple walls sections of all defending dwarves. Archaon himself promptly flew upon the gatehouse walls and began to attack the defenders. In the end the frenzy of the attackers allowed them to dish out an extraordinary number of attacks in combat which severely depleted the dwarven lines. It was not long before the forces of chaos had taken control of several wall sections and towers. The castle had been lost and the dwarven lands were now at risk as Rodin’s armies were marching abroad.
In mid-summer Erik and his banner continued to search the Land of the Dead for treasure. The dwarven forces came upon a small pyramid complex and began to search but it appeared as though these pyramids had already been looted long ago. Then, some sort of spirit manifested and in a spectral voice damned the dwarves for pillaging the Land of the Dead and bestowed a curse upon Erik. Erik could feel the life force instantly begin to drain from him. While he survived this attack his constitution had been severely damaged (permanently -1 toughness on profile).
Despite the loss the eastern defenses, Rodin was forced to march south and west to aid the empire. The goblin forces of Grom the Paunch had pushed deep into the empire and had even managed to establish a castle as a strong point for their attacks. The empire called for help and Rodin agreed to help. But his banners were still some distance from the action. So the dwarves marched forward but did not engage in combat.
In late summer Erik’s forces in the land of the dead were beginning to feel trapped. The Tomb King armies had been alerted to the presence of the intruders and had promptly marched out to dispatch them. Tomb King banners were directly to the north and south of the dwarves and scouts had reported that both of these banners were much larger than the dwarf army. Erik decided it was time to act. The dwarves could no longer wander around and loot the tombs. So the dwarves marched against the Tomb Kings. The dwarves took up a defensive position and bombarded the dead with ranged weapons. Helga (stone thrower) launched a massive rock high into the air directed at some foul undead monster. The shot was true striking the beast directly in the body and felling it to the ground. Regardless the undead fought on as they had some tricks in store for the dwarves. Several units of monstrous cavalry had borrowed under the sand waiting for the right time. Suddenly the desert sands exploded and undead surrounded the dwarves. Erik knew where several patches of quicksand were located and began a tactical withdrawal. The undead promptly charged at the dwarves but the quicksand swallowed up entire units of the undead warriors. The dwarves proceeded to dispatch the remainder of the undead in combat and claimed victory that day.

(necro this thread from beyond the grave) dannytee and I are getting a campaign game in tomorrow. I rolled a 16 (like 12 months ago); It will be a Monstrous Confrontation. I used to have the rules for that scenario... Anyone else have them as well? and can you post? KevinCI think it is up to 25% of your actual banner value in Monsters. You can choose from the STORM OF MAGIC book. Yes?

From page 4 of the master rules packet:
16. Monstrous Confrontation One battle this round (that involves one of your banners) of your choice, must play the Monstrous Confrontation scenario as described in Warhammer: Monstrous Arcanum.

wilsonthenarc,
It's a typical pitched battle game, but each side get an additional 25% allowance to buy monsters. For example, if you army is 2,000 points, then you would get an additional 500 points to spend on monsters.
