After finishing 14/28 executioners I wanted a little break from them so I painted Morathi and tried out the base technique I was thinking of for the rest of the Dark Elves I found the valhallan blizzard a lot harder to spread around than i thought, I wanted light patches of frost on the stone but it clumped up a bit. As for Morathi, getting the resin face to a standard that would be worthy of her "Enchanting beauty" special rule was impossible! I probably have trouble with faces more than anything else though.

I like it! The base looks good - like it's had a light dusting of snow, you've got a nice elven flesh tone, and the black of the pegasus is really well done - subtle but clearly having definition.

You are making quick progress! The black guard look menacing as they should, and the command group (especially the champion) are just classics. Grat subtle work on morathi's steed and the basing looks fitting.

Her not having an enchantingly beautiful face has nothing to do with your paint job and everything to so with the model😁

Sweet man, love the mix of old and new executioners. Both units look great.
I like all generations of Executioner models.

Those metal Executioners are the best Executioner models GW did. I'm jealous of the numbers you have of them. Such good models and enjoyable to paint too. I think their banner looks fine - it's got a clearly visible rune on it; you don't need any more than that.
The Black Guard banner is big, but those are Malekith's personal bodyguard. It's not unreasonable for them to wave around a bigger flag than some petty Dreadlord's banner.

Yes, don't touch those banners. Perfect as is. and both are in very nice units.
Does that blackguard banner bearer have the biggest ears of any elf who ever lived?

The old marauder miniatures certainly had some weird features, for example the blackguard champion's head is about 2x the size of that standard bearers. I've just started painting the marauder witch elves and they definitely include plenty of bizarre faces and hairstyles! I guess it's because they were all individually carved rather than designed on a computer?

There are ranges from before computers that are less 'peculiar'. I'd like to think back in early GW it was all fun and games. Miniature designer did whatever they wanted. Sometimes they were badly hung over or smoked the good stuff out by the trash can. And there was no corporate goon to lord over them and shoot down bizarre stuff.
Also, there were unicorns.

I've been gradually working through my 32 old witch elves bought from ebay in various states of disrepair and have now finished 25, I couldn't find a command group for them to buy, I'm not sure if there was ever one available? Here's the command group I put together, the purple haired champion model is a bit weird and the musicians face is pretty messed up but I thought the Standard bearer worked out quite well! I'm going to take a break from the witch elves and do 2 bolt throwers, once they're done I'll have 2500 points worth of Dark Elves, not too shabby since in March all I had was 6 nearly finished spearmen!

To get all that done since March is an amazing effort!

Those look like the marauder miniature witch elves. I can’t remember if they had a command. They look great though!

Looking through solegends it seems there was just generic dark elf command groups at that time, nothing witch elfy Army is coming along nicely
