With lockdowns in place for many of us, this is the month to get some big projects in! I'm currently only working 4 days a week, so get nice long 3-day weekends - and with nothing to do aside from walking the dog, there's plenty of time for painting. My focus is currently on Dark Elves - goals for this month: - Finish my Dragon/Pegasus riders (1 x Dreadlord, 2 x Supreme Sorceresses) - I've actually just completed these today, but haven't taken photos yet.
- 10 x Cold One Knights
- Prime a load more Dark Elves
- Potentially repaint/tidy up some of my older Dark Elves
- Work on some miscellaneous Dark Elf characters

My aim for this month will be to complete 1 "custom unit" with Homebrew rules, repaint my old Tyrion model that is in BAD need of attention, and get some more work done on my Mournfang Cav unit. I'm also counting this piece of terrain as part of this month's achievements, since I worked on it this morning and finished it to a satisfactory degree. I'll use it as a random terrain element in games, allowing it to move and attack whatever army it's close to.

I'm going Billy big balls and making an unjustly optimistic pledge to finish all my Bull Centaurs.
(Expect to see this repeated next month)

That's a vicious hut. Makes the whole ogre army flee!
I will do random things this month. Can't quite figure out whatever the next chunky unit should be. Oh, and I might be able to finish the big scenery piece that's been built and half-painted for too long.

I'm loving them, Sedge!
I think that the Cold One scheme is great, but the blue stripes are barely noticeable. Once you get everything else painted up and a rider on it's back, I doubt they'll show up much. Green and blue are so similar, that you might want to brighten up one or the other a tad.

You do have a point. From a metre or so away, it's hard to make the stripes out. I don't mind fairly subtle paint schemes, and there's enough going on with some bright silver/purple knights on top, but I'd still prefer to have the stripes visible from the other side of the battlefield.
For the stripes I used Stegadon Scale Green then Sotek Green. The whole model then had a green wash over it. I think the solution is fairly simple - an extra highlight of the lighter/brighter Temple Guard Blue, and then lightly re-wash over so there's still some definition between the scales.
I do intend to do an all-over very light drybrush of something like Screaming Skull once I've done the teeth/horns, which should brighten the model up, but that won't help with the green/blue contrast.
I might leave this one as-is, as I want some variety of between the cold ones - they're all still roughly the same (green body, paler underside, blue stripes) but some are darker/lighter than others, different shades, and the stripe patterns different.

Yeah, I usually use Temple Guard Blue or Baharroth Blue (SLIGHTLY lighter) for my pop blues. I think your idea of making them slightly different is a good one. You might be able to do that with washes though. (Applying before/after, differing shades, multiple coats, etc.) I'd keep to the same overall base colors though.

Yeah, I think I'll go down the washes route mostly for the colour variation - I did three of them with Athonian Camoshade, and one with Biel-Tan Green, which seems to have done the job.
The only other Cold One I'll probably do really differently is Malus Darkblade's when I eventually get to it, as Spite is a "Horned One" and I want him to look special.
