Nice one nightbringer. The great thing about Warhammer fantasy is that you can easily sort out a very well balanced game if you and the other player are in the same mindset.
In case you weren't talking about power level I consider Tamurkhan to be one of the best books for Warhammer 8th edition.
For me personally I'd consider the painting guide to be one of the worst as their wasn't much worthwhile info in there imo.

Beastmen...ugh x100
They felt like a list in the back of a 6th edition book. Their warhounds didn't even count for core.

Beastmen...ugh x100 They felt like a lost in the back of a 6th edition book. Their warhounds didn't even count for core. As well as their monster point costs magic lore Ambushing rule Magic items that are priced....interestingly Magic items that are bad for your own army Minos point cost No dragon ogres or chaos trolls Centigors Despite all that they are still fun to play (for me), but it feels as if youre always playing with a handicap.

right things that are really good the beastman book
25 pts for a full command on a unit of gors !!!!
shard of herdstone damn its nice when you roll average when you have 4 mages around this sucker !!
skull of rakos pretty expensive at 60 pts but turning all the level 1 shamen into a level 2 is golden when trying to to get wyssans of for the 3rd time
hatred fetish re roll all wounds on a unit in that magic phase nice nice when coupled with the staff of darkoth 5 d6 strength 1 hits
honourable mention the beast banner 75 pts +1 strength to the whole unit shame it can only be carried by a bsb

If GW hadn't wasted so much of their time and effort doting on Warriors of Chaos and Dark Elves there would have been month slots in their release schedule for both Bretonnia and Beastmen, so there's no excuse.

Hey, it's not the Druchii to blame! Blame GW's fixation on space marines. Or AoS.
What bothered me was the lame excuse that GW apparently gave for not updating Brets - they didn't know how to progress them. Total War Warhammer blew that idea firmly out the water with their take on Brets.

Yup There was like one, maybe two decent lists you could make but a lot of the options were pretty bad.

Personally, I wish that GW would have skipped the End Times and in its place would have released 8th edition books for Skaven, Beastmen and Bretonnia [and one final faq/errata for all the books]. It would have been nice for them to leave WFB with a completed edition.
