This is stunning work mate, love the colours. What do you use for that really bright blue colour?

Thank you for the praise again fellows! azknight - it was fun but also horribly time consuming. I almost feel like I've really dug them out from their graves. @markdieneks Cheers mate! The blue is vallejo game colour stormy blue, washed with old asurmen blue, then highlighted with a mix of stormy blue and vallejo model colour dark blue. This was followed by a few highlights, by progressively adding white to the mix. NaitsabesWell, since you've asked The skellies have been completed for a longer while, they only awaited some pics. I have already been working on something more - namely dire wolves. Well, not quite. I've decided to use spiders of all things. See I have only so many old dire wolves (which I intend to use for more goblin cav anyways), but I do own a substantial amount of the BFSP spiders. I figured spiders do fit my forest theme pretty well too. I was somewhat inspired by the evil, evil mirkwood spiders from the Hobbit. Some day in the future I might get myself some proper dire wolves and stick some gobbos onto these ones, who knows. First I needed to sculpt over the little holes on their bodies: Been using some cheap silicone brushes lately for my sculpting. They are incredibly helpful for simple stuff like this. Here they sit ready for spraying and airbrushing. I decided to paint them white, as that seemed like a nice and quick solution (and all I want is quick at this point, lets be honest). So Grey Seer primer -> zenithal highlight with vallejo air white -> apothecary white, a bit more shading in the recesses, some white highlights and voila: Satisfied with the results for a pretty quick process. I still have 5 more to go plus some bases. There's also a Varghulf being worked on, so lots to come!

Another home run on those spiders. The eyes really stand out and increases their evil look.

Cheers Tubis, I may well try it for when I want some bright armour for my chaos warriors. Also, great work on those spiders.

markdienekes azknightThanks guys! These things are not pleasant to paint, but I am glad you like them. In fact I hope you will appreciate a few more: Here's a second unit and both movement trays done. To prove that they are magnetised, they've invaded the side of my fridge! The Varghulf is done as well, I just can't seem to take a decent picture of him.

dusts off cobwebs’ Wow, it’s been ages since I last posted! I feel really bad for neglecting this blog for so long. Not from a lack of involvement in the hobby – far from it. Last year and this year were very busy when it comes to both painting and gaming. I’ve participated in a couple of tournaments (both 6th and 8th ed) and even managed to win a painting competition with my skeleton horde. That last bit came as quite a surprise, as there were some stellar looking entries. All in all my local WFB community is thriving, no doubt invigorated by the approaching Old World thing. On the painting front I’ve made quite a few additions to the undead horde. Unfortunately, getting an adequate arrangement for proper photography has become quite challenging lately. Each time I tried setting up I just became frustrated and a bit discouraged. I am not that good at taking photos, so it is a bit of a chore. It is far easier for me to just grab a brush and keep painting – which is what I did. However, I really miss sharing my progress on the army with the world, so hee I’m back. I hope I can keep this blog alive for a bit longer than usual! I am determined to do a proper photo session soon, to show off all of the new stuff. Right I am working on some mounted heroes – here is a sneak peek – a Wight Lord BSB (taken with my phone camera): The banner comes from the plastic black knights kit. I lost the original metal shield many years ago, so I tried creating a suitable ‘middlehammer’ freehand on a blank plastic shield. It looks a bit out of place on the grimy knight but I can live with it I think. I feel I got better at painting the verdigris – I go for a much darker tone and I think it helps. Overall, pretty happy with the results and he already distinguished himself in a tourney, KB-ing a vampire ghoul king!

Quite new to this forum and hadn’t seen this thread before so a very pleasant surprise now you’ve updated it Tubis, I enjoyed reading it from the start.
That skeleton horde is insanely good, best I’ve ever seen! Absolutely nails the feel of the Blanche artwork.
As an aside I’m all for undead armies without vampires so appreciate the theme too.
The Wight Lord is sweet too. Named character model from The Circle of Blood campaign wasn’t he, think I just remembered his name - Lord Falk?
