Update: I recently got really into making molds and casting miniatures. This has been my hobby for the past 4 or 5 weekends.
--Step 1: Use blue stuff to make the bottom half of the mold --Step 2: Use pink slime to make a rubber top half of the mold --Step 3: Mix a 2-part resin, pour in the mold... done in 5 minutes.
I am not "Master" level yet. Still tinkering with how to get finer results.
Will post links shortly to the exact products I am using.

CHECK IT OUT. The paint job itself is WIP, but... This unit of 25 Grave Guard (Tomb Guard) was hand cast using the process described above. I intentionally wanted them to look distressed, hence the dirt and rust and so forth. Weathering. DIY like whoa.

CHECK IT OUT. The paint job itself is WIP, but...This unit of 5 Marauder Horsemen was hand cast using the process described above. The horses were one job and the riders another, separate casting(s). This unit got a good bit of "BITZ BOX" adder work to round out the miniatures. These 5 get me to a unit of 20 Marauder Horsemen. A real actual flanking unit.... that will be T3 with no real armor. Oh, they'll die in droves to pretty much anything worse than an Elf Spearman. But they'll look cool A.F. doing so.

This guy was not cast. Nothing to do with that whole project. Just an old metal Necrarch I had on my painting table. Painting him up at the same time and in the same scheme as some of my Tomb Kings. I am liking the paint job .... except those odd khaki spots on his upper robe that I just saw I am considering painting up a pile of Vampires in the same color scheme of my Tomb Kings. This would let me "Multi-Task" those 300+ skeletons I already have painted as another alternate Army List. You know, in case I ever get tired of the Tomb Kings (which I won't).

I second strutsagget, pics please ๐

I'll start by saying: Step 1). Cut a hole in the box Step 2). Put your junk in that box Step 3). Make her open the box And that's the way you do it. \\\ Alright, now with that out of the way \\\Step 1). Build blue stuff mold, bottom.
Here's my preliminary set up. Pictured: Old blue stuff molds to be melted down. For miniatures I am doing 1 Metal Beastman, 3 Plastic Knights, and 2 Metal Chaos Dwarf Crew. The Plastic Knights are indeed old Battle Masters pieces, woot woot. Throwback like it's 1996. The Chaos Dwarf are Crew for the Death Rocket, and some of my favorite old school big hats.

Everyone: please crane your necks 90 degrees to the right. These are our targets today. My goal is 4 replicas of each over the course of the day.

Blue Stuff is indeed liquid rubber. You'll need a put of boiling water... constantly boiling. For this job, x6 molds, I did about 3 quarts of water. My wife cooks like a machine. All day every day, she loves it. For those folks that have a better half that cooks, you could use a good normal kitchen pot. Or. I got this pot at a church rummage sale. Perfect size, cost $1.00, and this lets wifey rest easy that I ain't melting blue rubber in the pot that she's going to use later that day to blanch green beans or make a roux, etc etc etc. My recommendation: go to a garage sale or thrift store and buy a pot dedicated to boiling water for blue stuff molds. Worth it.
