So over the winter I finally ran out of the old GW modeling flock. I got some from Army Painter but I'm not happy with it. It's a little too coarse for my liking. Has anyone out there found a good substitute for the old GW flock? It looks like a fine saw dust.

I'm curious about this myself.
I have a soft spot for classic green bases.

So, you have woodland scenic and Noch. Also Luke APS has his own brand with a lot of different types of flock. It’s hard to find a perfect substitute as in both color and “feeling”. But think they all three have both saw dust flock and more synthetic flock. I guess it’s not static grass version you want. Flock is usually pretty cheap so I would buy some different and test. Those are the ones I have tested but have not tested gw flock only their static grass. woodlandscenics.woodlandscenics.com/www.noch.com/www.geekgaming.co.uk/

So far his looks the closest. I will have to check it out. I don't know how GW operates now but back.in the day anything out side of models they didn't manufacture themselves. They usually bought from someone else and repackaged it. Hopefully it is just a matter of tracking down who they bought from. It's really is sad that for all they boast about being the best miniature company in the world, they offer very few options for basing.

I use something along the lines of gaugemaster summer/ spring/ autumn/ winter mixes. I tend to use patches of all 4 then supplement with tufts and flowers etc
