So the Dark Elf player has been bugging me about playing my High Elves. They were my first army but sadly haven't gotten much love. I'm only 5 models away from having a fieldable 2,000 point army so I figured I'd start working on them again. Here is what I have so far, going to build 5 more Seaguard then start painting them up.

Nice one. I really like the Lion Chariot model.

I got to repair the chariot. Not sure if the picture shows but one of the elves is missing their weapon's head. I might paint that last as getting the spare part means I'd probably have to build a box of White Lions of Chrace. So I started day one off easy and just built up my final 5 elves. Thinking I might magnetize the shortbow and quiver so I can run them as both spear and seaguard, but I might not bother.

Most players won't care if you run them as straight spears anyway. Seaguard are neat fluff units, but terribly inefficient. Either you run them two deep to maximize their shooting and accept they'll fall apart in close combat, or five-wide to maximize the spears and steadfast and accept their shooting isn't going to amount to much.
Yes, you can (in theory) reform just before close combat. In practice timing it is difficult.

They can fire in more then 2 ranks they have martial prowess Which also affects spears, so the conflict stands. Go three deep for maximum shooty or five-wide for maximum spear/steadfast.
