Morning gents, I have a query on the lance..
Page 41 of the Bretonnian book says:
On the turn that a unit of knights in lance formation charge, all models in the front rank fight as normal. In addition to this, every knight model in the flanks of the unit is allowed to fight, as long as they are directly behind a model in the front rank which is engaged in close combat.
The FAQ/Errata then confirms that:
Supporting attacks for models in the centre of the formation are made normally (this allows the knight/damsel in the middle of the second rank to then also attack).
My query is as follows:
1) Do the flank attacks count as supporting attacks, as per the BRB?
The reason I ask is two fold, one is to see if only the front rank of horses get to attack on the charge (so just 3 horses)? Or does 'Knight model' mean the knight and the mount can attack, thus you also gain the mount attacks from each of the knights in the flank? This is important as we all know horses are the most dangerous part of a knight bus and it also could sway whether taking the main of the purebreed (+1 str for horses on the charge), is worthwhile.
Secondly it impacts whether Grail knights on the flank also get both their attacks as standard?
The errata is clear that the knight/damsel in the centre of the unit gets to attack as per standard supporting attacks (so it would be just +1 attack from the rider) but omits clarifying if the flank attacks are also supporting attacks (it just says the knight model is allowed to fight).
I've rarely faced bretonnians so not sure (a) what the RAW would be and (b) how it is played as standard (which we all appreciate may not be the same as RAW).
Cheers.
